this is true about give someone else a chance, but its also the most central location for teams, and a central place to fly in teams to the event.
also if i recall..........the boston events set records for attendance, capping out the event, and revenue to the tradeshow.
BOSTON SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TAKEN AWAY!!!!![/quote]

But since we can't chase the hot chicks all season, DC is my vote. Mostly because it's near me and Pev's has a great field to host the event. The logistics of the field itself that lend to a national sized event as in not a parking lot borrowed for an event, accomodations close to field, airport close to field, kick *** night life (has no one been to Georgetown?), ease of actually getting to where you want to go. Every time I've been to boston I sat in traffic for three hours. Plus with all the liberal ****s we have in the captial who want to make it harder for us to play, it would be great to show them how professional our SPORT really is by dropping a national event right in their laps.

and we had another idiot ftw. you're basing saying to not play in the DC AREA, where pevs is about 45 min away from DC, to an apparent national security threat ? the guns will be taken apart in a suitcase and that is only to people who fly. It would be no more of a security threat in those airports than any other airport. ****, "im surprised players would be able to get their markers into Boston without everyone thinking its a national security threat.
DC ftw."
i could say the same thing.

and why would you want to have one on each side of the coast, why not have one in the middle so everyone on both sides of the coast can come to it and play it.
everyone would travel the same distance if its in the middle from florida or new england. please think about what youre saying before you actually post?
The DC event failed because its the 2nd event of the new league of uspl and was being only 1 month after the HB event. of course its going to fail. its a new venue and it needs time to get promotion. im 100% sure that if PSP, an already established league, was to hold a major event there, the turn up would be great.

I know there has not been a major event held in VA. I didn't say there was. They tried to have one already - and guess what - they had so few teams sign up that they had to reschedule it. Dave from Fox4 has already given legitimate reasoning and numbers based on 7-man team participation in the Northeast to have an event farther North.
The reasoning behind two events is pretty obvious, especially considering the USPL is trying to have conference play. With two east coast events you not only cover the conference play aspect (2 on each coast), but you go to the two locations that have high concentrations of paintball players. Florida has always drawn a lot of teams from all over the country due to the area (most people would rather travel, if they are going to, to Florida, as opposed to DC. DC is great, I've been down there a few times and really enjoyed myself while I was there, but Florida is a bigger draw). Both areas have a great base of players, and NE has a huge number of 7 man teams, compared to VA. D2-D3 teams don't have as much cash in this economy to travel - no one has as much. Why not go to where the teams are, instead of where the teams are not? The Northeast has shown a great commitment to 7-man already, as shown by the NEPL numbers, while the mid-atlantic has not.
I understand your reasoning and, unlike you, I'm not going to attack you. If I was on a D3 team I'd do my best to travel to VA or wherever the event is - but it makes sense to bring the event to where the teams are, not where they are not. Sure, you might get some teams to travel down/up to there. But if you put the event within 2 hours of a large number of 7 man teams you will draw those that cannot afford to travel halfway down the coast and stay there.
I don't see how they are going to be getting a ton more promotion, besides on PbNation, for this event - I would imagine their focus is to advertise for their next event. Am I somewhat biased? Hell ya, I'd love to see an event closer to me, just as you want one closer to you. Either way I am going to the event, and I much prefer that the league succeeds no matter what. I love 7-man.
For an established league, reaching out to a new location would be a great idea. For a league that is not established and doesn't necessarily draw teams based on their name, you need to go to the teams and make it happen from there. You have to prove your product to the consumers.

45 teams for the West Coast Open - 16 of those are Pro teams, so that leaves only 29 divisional teams - yikes.
Oh Yeah - there are 11 or so Pump and 19 or so 5-man teams too.
What ever happened to the days of events selling out in hours (170+ teams)?

Guys. please get the facts correct. The reason the event was postponed was because i told them they needed to because they were not giving enough time to promote the venue. USPL announced at HB the official date of the DC event, which was only 30 days after HB. Teams cant plan that quick to make affordable travel plans. I told them the original date was bad and if they gave it some more time, the teams would double if not triple. A week after the event was postponed, the registered team list more than doubled from 30 teams to 6o+ teams. Now there are 90 teams. Everyone who knows me, knows I have been a tourney supporter since it began, i was part of it, i was there. Been doing this for 25 years. And everyone who knows me, knows I take a lot of pride in everything i do that has the Pev's name on it so i want this event to be kick ***. I welcome everyone to DC for the event. Im glad you are coming and look forward to many more. I like Boston too! Anthony always does a great job! Peace.
