Filters, What really is there?

I've been doing alot of thinking recently, to the point that sometimes I get scared. Just so many thought's crossing my mind, and I think this is the right place to post it. I've read about what could be there, and what is thought to be there. But what is really there? When I say there I mean everywhere. What if what our brain see's isn't what reality really is. I believe there was a book about filters that may be in the brain to protect it, from being overwhelmed that is was taught over time to do.

But who's to say what one person see's isn't a whole different world? What if the green grass that I see is completely different to another person, but the way his brain functions still allows us to never know because we are able to still co-exist and function. I'm a believe in God and worship him but thoughts like this drive me nuts. I mean I've experienced how one reality can be completely warped into another world and people I've been around have never know.

It's kind of scary to think that there can be the things and stuff I'll never understand that my mind might just block out. But what does an infant think before it has learned words? Things like goo goo ga ga? I probably sound like an idiot, but post up some of your thoughts that kind of really just blow your mind. I mean this is the Philosophy section right?

Do you take adderall or any other prescription meds?

If so try backing down on those

or you could be suffering from severe anxiety/anxiety attacks.

This is the core reason that I believe in multiple religions.

As you said, we each have a different perspective on the world. Our perspective is influenced by surrounding people, biochemistry, and other personal histories. This is why people disagree. Abortion will never be settled because people have different perspectives on the world, and they're both right to themselves.

Religion, in my best estimation, offers a different perspective on reality. The view through Christian eyes are different than Buddhist eyes. However, they are all based on the same reality... that is under the notion of one reality. For example, I place a playing card with the face to me and the backing to you. I can tell you that it's an Ace of spades. I can describe the curves and markings to amazing detail. Would you believe me if we're playing poker? All your senses can not tell you what I see. You just see the blue diamond patterns on the back.

The same is true for reality - we are all right (with faithful religions), yet we are all ignorant.

Atheists have had histories that make them to believe there is not a God
--They say others are ignorant

Christians have had histories that make them to believe there is a God
--They say others are ignorant

One of my findings while studying religions have led me to believe that when we die, we are able to see* reality without filters. *See, but I really mean "sense" - our dependency on our 5 senses show up even in our language.

I am led to believe this because of a popular "heaven" idea. Even many agnostics, or atheists that I talk to believe that there is some reward for being good. Some Buddhist schools call it Brahman - a togetherness in the universe (Enlightenment). This "universal" (it is not entirely universal) idea makes me believe that there is a final destination of togetherness, enlightenment, and reality. I wouldn't even say I believe this, but rather I'm hoping it happens

In my sense, I consider reality to be the true God - something that we exist in, and can not fully comprehend, something that is all around us yet unattainable. In my definition, science could be considered the "true religion" - the study of reality, god.

Definition:
Reality - I mean everything that is real.
Perspective - A "filtered" view on reality.
I don't want to argue that people have different realities. Those are perspectives. If there are multiple realities, then I am just describing the one that I am in, and therefor, every human in my reality (all of you). Cognito ergo sum, I guess.

"The brain ticks at 6 billion signals per second,
most of which are hidden and not given to the senses.
Whether to do a few primitive tools of perception;
we're living in a pool of first-hand deception"

On your post about babies

I think they cry so much when they are born because they realize how ****ed up of a world they've been thrown into.

I just thought I'd add while thinking about this last night, and some other heavy thinking I believe I had an anxiety attack, I've never had one before but I felt alone, my heart sunk into my stomach, and I kind of thought I was going crazy But then chilled with some friends and felt quite a bit better.

I don't think its "filters" so much as I think it's just the fact people think in different ways. Some people may see a shirt as more red than orange or vice versa. Think of the story of the 3 blind men and the elephant, each felt a different part and thought it was a completely different thing.
It's not that God had filtered what we see, hear, feel, smell, and touch (Though our senses do decieve us), it's just that people sense a very small portion of the world and jump to conclusions.

OP...

This train of thinking (off the top of my head) reminds me of autism, and their perception on what life means from their angle, contrast to ours.

And, a visual example to the concept of autism, that also doubles as entertaining -- is the movie: Mercury Rising for anyone who cares

As far as this goes your eyes filter out the blood vessels they have to see through in order to percieve the world the way they do.

interesting,
the truth is that there is no answer at this point in time.
there is so much about the human brain that we just don't know about.
to think about this question in such a broud sense could make you go insaine.

my advice for you would be to narow your thoughts and try to find an answer for a smaller part of your question and build from there.

it is thoughs like your that have made our world the way it is now.

just remainber stay simpal to start don't let it consome you.
