I have found if I leave my battery in with the utb board it will slowly drain the battery even when it is off. So I disconnect it when I done for the day. I haven't put a meter on it to check the draw yet.

I'd say that depends on feel. Some like the feel of a click, some don't. I like the switch personally.

Are you using it with the capacitor, or without?

How fast is the drain? What kind of batteries are you using?
I can get about 3 weeks of use out of my NiMHs, which tells me that it's just self-discharge and not an active drain. So the board should not drain when sitting.

Yeah, mine seems to drain while sitting, with and without the capacitor. Taking them in and out all the time sucks. Last time I was out, the battery clip was so worn out I had to secure the battery to the clip with electrical tape. I think it's time to wire in a switch so I can just leave it in.
