How do I make my Tippmann A-5 shoot straight?

Hey, I recently bought a Tippmann A-5. The first time I used it was in Tribal Conquest. I went to go get the chrono tested so it suits the field regulation. Once I started playing, all of the paintballs curved to different sides. If I shot 5 paintballs without moving the gun's position in any way, they would all go different ways. How do I fix this?

Take your gun apart and scrub off the excess factory overspray in the bolt and hammer area with a brillo pad.

shoot paint thats preferably not dimpled and of a decent brand, Visible impact, Xball, and Recon are all decent paint ive seen at Walmart just open the box before you buy to check for breaks, and if alot of the balls have dimples

I agree, any barrel besides stock will net you more accuracy, shoot for buying one that is 14" since that is a good length for both woods and speedball I've found

good cheap ones 20-50$

-CP one peice barrel
-JandJ Ceramic
- Evil Driver
-Tippmann sniper barrel
-tippmann flatline

Mid range 60-80$

-Invert nightstick
-Stiffi C series
-Stiffi MF barrel

Topend- 80 and up
-Deadly Wind with freak inserts
-most other stiffi barrels
-Dye ultralight

Tysm for all of the info. I have a smartparts 14inch barrel which I clean before I play and after I play. I also used visible impact paint and I opened the box just like you said. Is my barrel bad? Or maybe it's another problem?

I hate Visble Impact...the last VI I bought, the seams on the balls were nice and flush on one side and raised on the other side of the ball. Flew like crap.

I've been using Xball Podium lately and I've had great luck with it so far. You may have to try different brands and suppliers till you find someplace that can supply you with fresh paint.

But I usually use paint that the field requires. I go to Cousins and they sell their own paint.

Smart parts barrels generally shoot well, I have had a linear and a couple freak kits and thay all shot well. Like most folks said--try a different paint or two, you may have just gotten a bad batch of paint.

Accuracy is determined by consistency from the paint (size shot to shot), the barrel (fitting to paint shot to shot), and your air source (same FPS shot to shot).

These problems are fixed by : buying quality paint, using a quality barrel whose inner diameter matches your paint, and using a consistent air source like HPA or anti-siphoned CO2

the only thing with a flatline is if your not holding the gun exactly vertically..the back spin it give a paintball will take it off course. I bought a flatline for my 98 works good use it from time to time, but i prefer my j&j 14 inch or my tippmann sniper barrels.

No. Yes, they shoot further but at that range, the ball loses velocity and suffers in accuracy. There is also a good chance the ball will simply bounce off your target at long range too as it has lost too much speed.

Flatlines have a rough bore to help put the spin on the ball. This can be murder on some brittle paint especially on a cold day or if paired with an etrigger or RT.

Buy a Freak Jr. You can change the tip for different lengths and the inserts for different sizes of paint are cheap. You dont need the whole insert kit. A Freak Jr kit has the barrel and 3 inserts and sells for appx $80.
