Trracer velocity problems
I'm pretty new to pump play, bought a PMI Trracer, changed Orings, springs, lubed and played. but I accounter a strange problem.
the velocity ist too much inconsistent. I chrono one day, shooting 260 fps, which I like. the end of the day schooting just 140 fps, way too slow. another day again at 260, some days I just can't get over 140, no matter what I do.
I'm running on HPA, so I don't expect these things.
can anyone help?

Hmm, i dont know what would do that... I know that this is a dumb questions, but are you refilling your tank? To me, this sounds like some sort of tank problem or something.

I try 2 different HPA tanks and a 12g CO2... same with both, the tanks are well on other markers, so I don't believe in any error in them... but anyways, have to check...

See if you have much air in your tank when it won't shoot very high velocity. You might want to try another tank like others have said.

Did you pass?
Have a broken gun? pm me
You gas up the marker, put on the gloves, strap on the mask, and walk onto the field.. it doesn't matter that you failed a test, that your girlfriend broke up with you last night, or that you got a ticket on the way there... your world is right for the next couple hours, this is your heaven on earth.. live it.. love it..

could possibly be a roll out issue. The stock barrel is huge, easily causing roll outs. After putting a few strips of tape at the chamber end of the barrel, my consistency issue went away. I'm also on the stock springs and running HPA

Heres what I run and im in the 280's for a few shots then in the 250's.
Stock spring, 12g, a single 1-inch long pice of electrical tape parrallel with the barrel at the breach end. Use hpa if you want consistancy and not having to change air sources much, run 12g's if u want a light setup. Depending on the output of your hpa tank (low pressure = around 450 psi out, high prssure = around 850 psi out). Since the Traccer is unregged, the psi that you run through the gun will fluctuate the velocity. Low pressure = lower velocity, High pressure = higher velocity.

good point with the roll out, that didn't came to my mind. there was some old tape in the barrel, but I had to remove it (real old) and I didn't replace... I use some big balls, they dont roll all the barrel down, but if they roll half the barrel? I have to try...
THANKS

If they rolled part way down the barrel before firing, that would probably effect the velocity. Not as much time for the ball to accelerate?

Yeah, not enough time to accelerate, but the gap between the bolt and ball is much bigger, requiring much more air to fill the gap and propell the ball out the barrel. When the ball is touching or almost toughing the bolt face, the explosion of air has much more energy, and fills a much smaller gap, much faster.

There isn't really much you can do to a Trracer, it is as simple as it can get. When I got my gun, I upgraded the spring and my gun came with the velocity adjustable bolt. You might want look for a Nelson Spring Kit. If you cannot find that, go with the autococker springs, I heard they also work (someone please confirm this). Check if your bolt is adjustable. If it is, you can stick an allen wrench down the middle and turn it up or down.
