You can change between nitro content. It wont hurt the motor, it was an old superstition, and with the lubricants they are using now days, there is no ill-effects of switching. BUT, you wont get a large increase anyway, so dont worry about going to it anyway.
Anyway, switch to revo gearing and go up on the clutch bell. Also, if you want a real difference, port your engine. You can start by just polishing it, and that will help. If your half way handy with a dremel, you can do a basic port, and notice an increase. You wont go fast without making the big changes, the motor already puts out about as much power as you can get from it.
Best thing to do for speed, port the sleeve, port the crankshaft(might I suggest a machinist for this) turbo the crank, polish it all up.
Had a guy reach 73 with this setup...no guts, no glory.
