It is just the stock ESC. I saw on ebay they had motor esc combo's.
What is a brand that is known for quality of electric motors and ESC
I saw quite a few traxxas and EZ run? I think they were. Or would I be better off getting an upgraded Tamiya motor for it.
The traxxas ones on ebay I saw for like 55$ for both motor and ESC.... what that be a good idea? thanks for you help i am a complete noob when it comes to electric RC

Would that be a decent setup. Also would it be a direct drop in for what I have or are there other peices I would need to make it work?
Again I have a TT 01 and all I want to do is drift around.

I went ahead and got the 12t motor and esc combo. Will the stock gears be ok or should I make them taller for the added power? All i want is a fun drifter Top speed and racing isn't all the important. but with short gears and more power im worried about over heating and frying my electronics.
I saw you can get a 24/25t set of spurs and then another another set with the pinions. I guess that would probably be my best option?

I got my motor and it doesn't seem to be a direct drop in replacment. I have cut out a small amount of the plastic around the drive shaft and the rear of the motor by the Rx so that it will fit, but the plastic piece that holds the motor in place and covers the gears doesn't want to fit back together correctly. I am pretty sure the inside of that peice is "pinching" the spur and wont allow it to spin freely when I tighten it down.
Any help or suggestions?

Did you get the motor off ebay? Might have been some weird proprietary Japanese motor. Take it to your LHS to see if they have any suggestions, but you really shouldn't have cut your chassis, returning the motor would have been better.

Where in California?
LA drifters are always visiting Las Vegas, and I've come to know a few people from South Cali. Groovy Drift used to be based out of South Cali, and that was a bad *** team/group. Ask around on some local RC forums, hit up some local hobby stores and tracks.

I know, I know, days late.
We normally group up on drc, or other forums, and layout tracks in parking lots. Tracks are pretty rad most of the time.
Check out Arai driftland.
