In October of 2007 I bought a Projector for my basement. I didn't care much at the time what I got, just that I wanted a huge screen to be able to watch movies and play video Games on.
I purchased a low cost IWELL Projector and a 150" Hang able screen. I love the projector and plan on getting a new one, however there are three flaws to this device and I feel I should be upfront about them so you do not have the same problems as I do.
At first it was really cool, as I was playing sports games like Madden, however when I started playing COD I realized that sitting 4 feet in front of a 10 foot screen had HUGE disadvantages. You can not focus on a 10 foot item and notice someone moving in a window... So if the only reason you are getting this is for gaming.. You either need to size down the screen (Down to about 80") or have a room you can sit REALLY far back on (At least 10 feet)
Second, and I didn't even know this was going to be a problem is something called Keystone Correction, basically how far off center from the screen you can place the projector, and shoot the light at an angle onto the screen. Top level projectors today have up to a 30 degree correction, this only has 5 Degree correction. I need a MINIMUM of 18 Degrees of correction to project at 112".
Third, because this is an import (I bought it direct from Hong Kong) it came with the Chinese power plug as well as a Chinese cable connection. I replaced the power plug with a standard one, however because I need a cable box to get HD channels here, I hooked everything up over HDMI.
This is an AMAZING entry level projector, for gaming, blue ray, or just to watch TV the projector its really cool! Like I said, just make sure you can get the projector in front of the CENTER of the screen.
The Screen itself is Double layered and very high quality. I bought 150" not because I wanted the largest size possible, but because I wanted to frame a 98" (Ideal projection size for this projector) screen with a 2" black velvet frame. This was going to be the first screen that I ever framed before, and wanted to make sure I had MORE then enough screen to perform the framing.
It does have a built in speaker for sound! So if you are thinking about putting this in your bedroom, you do not need to buy an entire sound stage. I only used the speaker the day I setup the device. It sounded like a normal TV speaker to me.
