Click the
button at the top of PbNation to get to the new video section. If you have a PbNation account then you have access to upload and view videos already. You don't even have to sign up.
To search for videos, use the "Video search" box located in the upper left hand portion of the videos section.
There are no advanced search options for videos. However, once you have performed a search, you can order the results by category, date, length, rating or views.
There are 12 different categories to view videos. If a video falls into more than one category, select the one that is most appropriate for your video. You can view any of these categories from the main video page. After your video is uploaded, you can always go back and edit the category you chose if you feel that you didn't make the right choice.
Please feel free to post comments on other people's videos. As always, try to keep the flaming and insults to a minimum. Their idea of what is cool isn't necessarily the same as yours. We'd always rather you just skip to the next video than post something negative. Please remember all the
PbN rules still apply here.
Uploading Videos
Before uploading, please read the
rules.
Once you are in the new Videos section, you will see an
button located in the top right. Once you are ready to upload a video, click the Upload button. If this is your first time uploading a video, you will be prompted to install the Flash based VideoEgg publisher. This should only take a minute to upload, and does not install any spyware of any sort. Once you've got the publisher installed, start by selecting the location of the video you are going to upload by clicking the appropriate icon in the left column. You can also drag videos directly into the player or browse to them by clicking the
button. Do not hit the Submit button at the bottom of the page yet.
Once the video is loaded into your browser, you can edit it right there. You can choose where the video starts, stops and edit out chunks in the middle. Use the double arrow tool to choose where the video stops and starts by just putting the cursor at the beginning or end of the video. Here's a video where the beginning few seconds have been edited out. It started as a 30 second video but it is now only 28 seconds.
Put the cursor over the middle of yellow bar that represents the video to erase middle portions of the video. Here's a video where the beginning and end have been removed as well as two sections in the middle. The total length of this video once is uploaded will only be 8 seconds.
Once you're done editing the video, fill in all the information about your video: Title, Tags, Category and Description. Tags are keywords people can use to search for your video. Enter your tags separated by commas.
Once you are done editing and filling in the text boxes, hit the Upload button. Wait while it uploads the video to our servers, and generates a thumbnail image. Don't hit the submit button at the bottom of the page until your video finishes uploading!
Now is a good time to double check and make sure all of the information you entered is correct. You can go back and edit text later but you can't edit the video anymore once it has been uploaded.
Don't hit Submit until you are completely done uploading the video as well as entering all the fields. When you are happy with your video, click the Submit button located at the bottom of the page. You will be redirected to the video you've uploaded, which is ready to go!
