SP1 low velocity problem

I am teching a gun for a customer, and encountered an issue I can't figure out. The SP1 reg is only able to adjust the velocity between 205 and 215 fps. At the low end of the reg adjustment the gun makes the normal sound as if it is trying to fire but doesn't have enough air pressure, no problem there. The weird thing is that when you adjust the reg to go above the 215 fps point, it does the same thing, just sputters air but doesn't shoot.

I changed out the battery, checked the o-rings and relubed them, I also checked the o-rings in the reg and relubed them. I know how to properly lube a gun, so I made sure it wasn't over-lubed.

My next step will be to try a different reg, but I wanted to see if anyone has any actual knowledge on what the problem is. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Are you using the customer's tank ? If so, have you ruled it out, the tanks output, by using another tank ?

So many things could cause this, most pressure related. I have a pressure gauge on my on/0ff, so I can see what the output pressure of my tank is. This would be a good place to start. Next would be a reg. I have a extra Ion reg as a backup. Bought it off this board for $15. I personally do not trust the pressure valve on the Max Flow reg. I have seen 2 bleed out due to pressure, then not reseat, and kept leaking.

I would like to see what Sean from Smart Parts suggest.

As a side note, I wish more guns had pressure gauges like Ion's have, helps those of us who work on guns out a bunch.

Thanks for the tips. I wasn't using the customers tank, I tried both a full CO2 tank, as well as one of my personal HPA tanks. I'm pretty sure it isn't an issue with the output pressure on the tank. Like you suggested my next step would be to try a different reg. I'm hoping that it is something simple that I overlooked, or failed to observe when I disassembled the reg. Hopefully someone from Smart Parts has encountered this issue before.

So is no one from Smart Parts going to chime in on this thread?

Sorry, I was in Argentina. Just got back yesterday.

Ok, as you adjust up, there is more energy required to fire the solenoid. So, first, use a good name brand battery like Energizer or Duracell. Second, make sure you have the gun in the right valve dwell mode. Next... replace solenoid.
