Get my SP-1 Today

Unfortunatly I'm at work until 5. But it will be there when I get home.

Is there any little quirks I should know about before I start shooting with it?
(Other then setting it for CO2 or HPA). Is there any parts that should be oiled or checked before firing. This is my first electric marker. I've finally succumbed to using an electro and don't want to mess it up.

Thanks!

Should be good to go out of the box. If you want, lower the reg a bit and raise it slowly to 280.

Nice HUNK! When I got mine, I hadn't even opened it until I got to the field! I took it out of the box, set it to HPA, set Select-Fire, and went to the chrono. It shot out of the box at roughly 275 so I just left it at that. Shot about 1000rds all day with HPA and it was a dream! I did have about 5 barrel breaks but I blame that on the cold weather. My SP1 was quiet, light weight, accurate, and really a lot of fun to use. I'd gone from a BT-4 and A5 so I know exactly how you feel.

I'm so friggin excited. I've been using my 98c for 5 years. It will be a nice change of pace (and firepower!).

Only thing that sucks is having to remember to check on batteries. And trying not to get wet. I went completly over and even got an electro hopper (man the revy w/x board is cool).

ahaha, that's so awesome, HUNK - I got the same loader when I got my SP1 too! And the first day using (actually the only day so far), it was raining like crazy. I was out there for hours and didn't have a problem whatsoever! Have fun with your new marker man, you're going to love it!

Haha... I had the same loader. Much better than a gravity, and a great backup hopper, but you'll soon find yourself wanting a force fed unit.

Halo B with custom internal paint; Black front & sides w/clear back & tray.

I to came from Tippmanns. I modded tippy cost so much more than a stock SP1, and the Sp1 will out perform it.

1. NEVER use oil, simply Sleek or a Dow 33 type lube.
2. Switch to HPA.
3. Screw the velocity down before airing up. Friends was too high and caused the bleed valve to kick in right after he aired it up.
4. I suggest a 14" barrel, in the form of CP, Lapco, etc when funds permit.
5. I like a small drop on mine, to each his own.
6. Put some glue, silocone, or something on end of the thread where the feed neck screw is. It will come off if you don't. Or buy a Trinity clamping feedneck like I did.
7. Aftermart bolts are kind of a waste unless you go blackhart. I know, I have my own chrono, Scuba setup, and have tested some at home.
8. Buy a extra o ring kit. I suggest OEM since the Urethane orings last longer.

that is all I can think of.

Don't be afraid to get it a little wet. It will be just fine. The anti chop bolt is awesome but can still chop if the paint is really brittle. I have only ever chopped 5 balls and that was all on a cold day with crappy winter paint. When it gests real cold like 20 degrees or so that marker will simply not work at all. But I think that can be fixed with different lube.

A bolt and a QEV will help you lower dwell, resuting in more air in your tank. Granted most fields have all day air, but. imho, I would rather play more then stand in line to get a refill all day.

Btw, Blackheart is a board, not a bolt

I'm guessing what he was actually saying was bolt upgrades don't serve a big purpose, unless you get a blackheart board and have the adjustability it offers.

Thanks All!

I will keep all this info. The gun was at home waiting for me. My wife just rolled her eyes when she saw me lighting my tree up in my backyard.

You are so right allgrownup. My 98c has cost me an extra couple hundred dollars and doesn't even hold a candle to the sp1. I love this gun.

You cannot add a QEV to a SP1, or adjust the dwell, except for HPA or Co2. Blackharts do come with a qev and allow you to adjust dwell, and much more.

Yes, what i was saying, with now Blackhart, bolts are a useless upgrade IMO.

Actually, smaller lighter bolts increase the volume of air in the firing can, and if you have a Blackheart or Virtue board, this will allow you to decrease your dwell therefore providing a useful upgrade for the SP-1.

Taken from TechT's website:

Quote:

Due to the way that the Ion operates, reducing the weight of the bolt allows for the lowest possible dwell settings and the highest rates of fire.

Its commonly known in paintball that the larger you make the firing chamber the more you can lower your gun's operating pressure.

The L7 Bolt takes both of these ideas to the EXTREME!!!
Although it refers to the Ion, essentially, it operates the exact same way, therefore it does have more of an advantage then you may realize.

You cannot adjust the dwell on a stock SP1. It is not adjustable except for HPA mode and Co2 mode.

The board is not the same as a Ion, nor do you have the options like the stock Ion board does. You cannot adjust the dwell.

great marker.....I upgraded to a blackheart board and it's SWEET as hell!!! - funny thing is i still use it at semi cuz i have a double trigger. Believe me, if you add the firebolt, you'll feel the difference plus you'll get more shots out of your tank due to the bolt using less air. I dont have one on mine but my CAPT does and you can feel the difference when you fire it. No kick-back whatsoever.

You'll find all the help you need on pbn....just ask and look around
