the sand there is pretty firm as it goes.
little uneven, but its nice because it has some give to it (nicer on teh joints).
as far as the sliding goes, its kinda like if you put carpet on a tempurpedic haha

day 5- tournament play begins

here are a couple before and after shots of the center court field. most people dont think about how much paint is shot at a tournament, and fewer people think about what happens to all that spent paint once the tournament is over.

friday 6am

friday, after all games are played

a lot of paint doesnt break, and collects on the sides of the fields.

in the evening, we have a crew that has to go out to the fields and squeegee the bunkers, rake up all of the paint, and shovel it into bags. tomorrow morning should have a definite improvement in the cleanliness of the fields.

we must maintain the vendors area too. some knucklehead drops paint on the walkway, and decides the best thing to do is leave it there.

we are responsible for picking up all stray paintballs from the sand. i had to sift out the paintballs from the sand with a rake for about half an hour.

end result...lets keep it this way!

tomorrow morning adds another detail to the fields: repositioning the bunkers. when people overslide and crash into a bunker, or lean against it too hard, the bunker will slowly shift. after 75-100 games in a day, that bunker will have moved a few inches from its original position. it is my responsibility to make sure the bunkers get placed back in their proper position.

more pics tomorrow!

the refs squeegee them down between every few games. on the side of the bunker where players usually are. no point in squeegeeing the sides where it doesn't matter.

Look again. Look at the angle of the 50 bunkers, they all make a perfectly straight line with each other.

look again. it doesnt really matter that two bunkers are off. if you want, we could go back to hyperball where everythings just a mess:

dont get me wrong here.
its fun as is all paintball, but the setting up the fields was KILLER.
anyone wanna take a guess at how much a 2.5ft diameter by 8ft long culvert pipe weighs? also wanna know how much lifting it off the ground and setting it up straight will hurt your back? because i know haha.
newer kids think air bunkers are heavy. they have no idea haha

it may have been off, field walking day is a busy day for me. everyone wants to sit on the snakes and lean on other bunkers, thus moving them out of position. i go back and forth between fields rechecking every bunker and telling people to not sit on the snake beams lol.

I believe you. I wasn't meaning to pick on your measuring skills or anything. I now see all the work that is really put into one of these things!
