because they had like 3 different divisions(and trying to fill each one)... : /
1 division would be fine.. and would mostlikly bring a good ammount of people..

Promotion is the key, let people know about them in advance. Get the word out early is key. Have the tourney, maybe the first one will be slow, the rest won't.

This seems to be the problem with all fields... I don't understand the mentality behind it. 1 division.. Is there going to be a "Best" team that shows up, probably.. But when they weren't the "Best" team, it was someone else...

Its about shelf-life...
You can always cater to the newer teams coming up, or you can bring in the 4-5 teams that have been around for a while...
If you are going to have a tournament and there are 15 teams interested, but 5 can't play because they are above D3, OR 5 wont play because there are better teams playing.. You will ALWAYS be better having the 5 higher ranked teams come... Because more often then not they come back...
Not to mention "Ranking" as we know it is so chicken ****. Its about who has played the most PSP's? So if some shmuck played PSP 4 years ago, played NEO, MAO, and Cup, and is now D2 he shouldn't be permitted to play?
What about the Hero's? Most of them have never played PSP, yet they are some of the better players in the region...
With so many holes and cracks to fill, its impossible.. local events should just be open... IF you get the new teams USED to the idea.. They wont have anything to compare it too.
Besides, its not the NEW teams that are the problem, its the D3 teams.. Its the teams who KNOW they are at the end of their rookie span, and DONT want to lose to higher ranked teams, although D3 teams have NO problem beating on what would be a D5/D6 team.

That's like saying:
If so and so's field charged $100 for a case of paint, the same as the other guy down the road, they would have nothing else to compare it to.
People are always going to try and cut corners somewhere. Anythign they can to get the players out.

Umm.. Whenever everyone DID charge $100 a case for paint, we didn't complain.
Since PSP put a cap on ROF we have seen a steady decline in gun manufactures advertising how fast their guns are.. One day, it will be a thing of the past. The new players wont ask questions about it, because they don't know any better.
The point I was trying to make is.. You will get an equal number of teams if you do it either way.
Who would you rather have at your field:
Someone like me, who spends a little over 30K a year on the sport, who if given the chance would play (and pay for the remainder of his team to play) every event that a field hosts.
Or, a rookie team who will come to your event 1 time get smashed and never come back......
99% of your "Long Term" customers are also ranked higher then D3...

in the wz area, there are like, very few ppl higher than d3 so it really doesnt matter, letting ppl over d3 enter would be to MY KNOWDLGE allow like, 4 more ppl to play.

People come in from other areas to play tournaments... So you would have more than just 4 d3+ players show up to play.

The main focus should be advertizing the tourneys. For years at Futureball ( in MI ) we had good turn outs with tournaments because a ton of tourney ( including OH ILL and MI area )players played there. As the players stopped playing there the turnout dropped and the owner never advertized outside of his field/stores or web site/forum. The last 3 yrs they have had to cancel tons of tourneys because of this. Before my team merged with the other team playing out of FB we would save most of his tourney cuz we could put in 3 lines apiece.
I also believe local tourneys should be Open. Its to hard trying to make up Division becuz as you draw in teams that don't normally play u will get your sandbaggers.... as long as the newer teams understand they might play a team BETTER than what they are its up to them to decide if they want to play. Another solution is to have a beginners tourney. But with a bunch of new teams popin up in SE Michigan you can count on some if not most of them coming down if Warzone advertizes there tourneys well in advance. I know my team would be willing to come down and play.... we love the place.

Exactly, I am in PA, and I against driving 6 hours to go to a tournament that I feel we have a good shot at winning? No, not at all...
I travel all over for paintball, its part of the game.
If its open, status will be there.. Are we higher then D3? Sure...
But once again what does that ranking really mean? I am going to have 3 guys on my D1 roster ALL D3 or lower... So even though they are playing D1 (But not ranked D1 yet) they can play, but other players from my team can't because they won an event last year?
Doesn't make much sense to me...
