average price for a whole national tournament??

okay so i was just curiuse as to what the total in the end comes out for a nation psp event.
what i have thought about so far are:
plane ticket
entry fee
paint
food
car/gas
hotel

anything else, and about how much does the average person pay in total for an event, assuming you have to fly and stay in a hotel. thanks

You gotta be crazy .

I'd say from 200 - 500 bucks each tournament. This is with both plane and/or car.
Most I spent during one tournament last season was approx. 800 bucks. That was with flying both ways, train, entry fees, paint, 2 nights at a hotel, food and similar stuff.

That sounds really expensive for a local event.

I drove to my first couple NPPL events, so I saved money on gas. Your team should buy paint as a group, so you should have an estimate on that beforehand.

The easiest way to do the math is to add up the expenses.
  • Travel (preferably drive with other people in the car)
  • Additional Travel (if you fly, you'll also need a rental car)
  • Hotel (share rooms - 4 players can comfortably spend a couple days in a room)
  • Paint (group paint should give you an idea before you go)
  • Entry (taking more than the minimum number of players makes the entry less when divided)
  • ID Card/Air (some events have extra expenses)
  • Food (the team should eat some meals together)
  • Normal playing expenses (batteries, working equipment)
  • Entertainment (some teams like to do things together while out of town)
If that gets to be more than $1000, then you can probably shave expenses somewhere.

If your team is good enough to compete on the national level, you should be making a stir at local events or your practice field. If this is the case, you should talk to a field about helping you. This doesn't mean them shelling out 100% of the money, but maybe you wear their logo in exchange for a case or 2 of paint per player. It's deals like this that have made it possible for a lot of amazing teams to get started at the national level. Most teams can't finance trips to national events (I know of very few) by themselves.

And just for fun, when I played PSP events, I think our sponsors paid between $5-10k/event

I played cup last year a flew from MO to FL and then played and i think it rounded out to about 500-600 plus if you go to a national event for the first time take like an extra 200 cause youll find some worthless **** you just have to buy

It also depends on how much paint you plan to shoot, for a psp most teams i've talked to say 10 cases per player, but that's for D1 and semi pro so i'm not sure if you need that much for lower divisions, which end's up being 100+ cases of paint, so prelic is right get paint from anywhere/anyone you can.

Plus it looks cool wearing tons of logos

Ok...All above sounds good. John has it best! thanks john. I coach a D4 team, World cup is the most costly as far as i'm concerned. Here are the costs:
Flight..average 250.00 Rental car...average 160 for the week paint....D4 5man averages to 50 per case...John is right, pool your $. Food......average cost 100 for the week. We as a team usually get together with another team and rent a house for the week, i have been doing tournaments for 14 years and a house is cheaper than a hotel because you can buy and cook your own food, resturants are expensive. average cost of 10 person house 1,300$ for the week and you get a pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is all done with no sponsor. I almost forgot, Entry fee for D4 5man is 1100$ If you have 10 guys stay in a house and only 7 are playing, the cost per man is 500$ for world cup, that should leave some $ but not always. in other words, the guys playing spend more because they pay the entry and share in all other costs. as a coach i pay for one entry fee even though i don't play, this helps spread the $ for everyone else.just an idea
