Recommended Barrels (SP1)

Can any one recommend good barrels for my marker? Preferably under 50 (at most 85 [Lapco Apex]) bucks. I was looking at SP Tacticals, J&J Ceramics, and the APEX (Lapco version, since I heard the stock barrel for the BT Apex sucks). Any other suggestions and tips on purchasing barrels would be appreciated. Thanks

I have owned many...many barrels. I like lapco big shots, but they lack porting and are loud. With a low pressure gun, why make it loud? I had an apex, and hated it. It was not accurate, and you have to tip your gun up a bit, or it shoots down. Long barrels...waste of time and such. J&J's are too small, .688 IMO.

My favorite barrel for the money....CP 1 piece classic. Inside is a mirror finish, they are now $30, and are made here in the US.

Plus you can buy them in .689 , ..685, and .693. I bought the .689 first, then the .693. I would buy them in reverse order though.

CP's are great but look like *** plugs imo. I'd say get a freak with AA tip and .693 insert.

I spoke with CP the other day when I ordered my .693. I mentioned they were ugly, and they said they will be having a tactical barrel coming out soon. Look for it.

I've used 3 freaks with my SP-1.

One was a friends that I borrowed, since the local store and many other stores didn't have any. Just a Freak Jr, with the Jr. front.

Then the guy at the local store loaned me his full freak kit that had a 14" All-American front and a shorter ION front I think he said, still had spiral porting, but was blue.

Then I was able to buy my own Freak Jr. Kit.

I tested 3 fronts Friday night, in the span of about 2 hours (played for almost 4 hours). I liked the 14" All-american Front the most, with the stock Freak Jr. front coming in a close second.

A friend has a J&J barrel kit for his SP-1, and he likes it. I'm not sure if he's underboring too much, or what, but he tends to get more breaks than those of us with Freaks do. His kit did come with 3 fronts that allow him to change easily based on the type of play.

just save up for a freak you will never need another barrel system, and if you get a new gun all you need to buy is a back.
