Painted Halo Shell; w/Pictures!

Followup to my last thread . Took a stock clear Halo shell, disassembled the halves, cleaned with alcohol and used Krylon plastic paint in "Satin Black".

Taping it up...

Other side...

Multiple light coats

Don't forget the battery door

Wait 1 hr, remove tape...

And reassemble!

All done! Take your time, and use better tape than I did. It bled just a bit in the very tips/corners of the side. The paint really sticks to plastic (it's designed to bond to it... not removable) so clear is not needed.

Took a couple hours, mostly taping and cleaning. I could now tint the backside and have a smoke/black hopper without having to retape. Looks 100% better on my markers now.

some people might want to try this so they dont have to waste 20 bucks on a new shell because some tourny wont allow clear shells

This Krylon paint is designed for lawn furniture, plastic toys, and the like. It litterally bonds to the plastic. $6 for a can, and I used maybe 1/5th of it with 4 very light layers. I'll post up if I have a durability problem, but if the worst the paint will see is paintballs bumping up against it I think it'll be fine.

The only thing I wish I did differently is to paint the raceway bottom too... but it's good that I can see into it still to ceck for problems. Give 'n take
