Wisconsin Navarone Team Thread
WISCONSIN NAVARONE
Wisconsin Navarone is not a typical team of any sort (tournament, scenario, other), as that is not our objective. WIN's objective is to bring sportsmanship to the field every time we walk into an event, whether it is a tournament, scenario, big game, or recreational walk-on game.
Wisconsin Navarone is fashioned after the old style of play: Play hard but fair; play like you're being paid to be an ambassador for the sport; treat paintball like a family sport; help players less experienced than us; use technology as a tool, not a replacement for skill and effort.
Wisconsin Navarone will not hold try-outs. WIN will recruit players by observing them on the field, and asking them in. Only a certain kind of player will be accepted, and expectations for WIN players will be high. Not in pure performance, but in integrity, honor, sportsmanship, and honesty. Sponsorship will not be a driving force behind WIN, although it will be explored. Again, not just any sponsor will be accepted or sought. We will expect the same ethical commitment from a sponsor that we expect from our players.
Special note - Make sure to read the Forum Rules before posting!
TEAM ROSTER - Our team roster will likely fluctuate forever. That's OK with us!
Pump Scout - Ben Kohnen
T 2 - Jerry Valley
EthanK - Ethan Kohnen
Disillusioned Baller - Mike Liermann
Michaela Kohnen
knight93819 - Matt Dorhorst
PROVISIONAL PLAYERS - Players we'd like to see on the static roster as they play

(Ben, we need to pump some fools this summer for sure.)

OK, upcoming "for sure" things are:
Living Legends II in Joliet, IL (CPX) May 30/31. Not really a "team" outing, but something worth going to for those who can!
A mechanical/pump 3-man in Wisconsin Rapids June 14th
Something that we'd kind of kicked around was playing Chicago PSP with all mechanical guns. Probably won't happen this year - maybe in 2010. Any pump events that turn up, we'll try to hit up.
Fields we'll be playing... wherever we can get in! Lately it's been BFG for team practice, but we'll hit fields all over the state. The joys of not being tied to one city. I'm hoping to be able to sweet-talk Mike S at Stalker into letting us borrow the hyperball field for a day sometime this spring, as long as we don't get in the way of the rental groups.
Mike, been out playing at all lately? Haven't heard from you in a while.

Fixed for ya (no sweat haha everyone hears mike)
The 3man Mech sounds awesome. You are going to have to link me to some info.
And yes I have been playing lately. I play EVERY sunday at Jungle Cats Paintball outside of Juneau WI (near watertown). Its a very old school minded field with a fantastic and knowledgeable owner and a great bunch or regulars. We also have a lot of pump players and you will find at least 4 people playing pump every weekend.
SO.... I have to have you and WI Navarone out some time because I'm sure we would all mesh good. As soon as the weather get better you should come over (unless you like snow in which case you should come now). We will definatly see you at that mech tourny though. We live for that kinda stuff.

I'm gonna take a guess and say he was thinking of me-Mike. Honest mistake though, no worries. I'm posted up in Green Bay now, livin' the college dream ha. Just had surgery on my leg though and I'm trying to get back into shape before I can play anymore. SOOO I guess there's a full-time tech guy on the team(me) until I heal up. Then you got your star back LOL J/K. But we gotta meet up soon, where have you been playing at Ben?

Miles, if you want a slot on the team, I'd love to have you. One of the nice things with a team like this is that we're not going to freak out if someone's on another roster, too.
I have to make a run to a surplus store over in Eau Claire sometime. Stores like that are getting hard to find. Used to be one in Appleton that carried Tiger Stripe pants, but they went out of business, or moved somewhere unknown. Tigers are going to be the pants o' the team. Tops to be determined... looking into jersey options, as well as plain black shirts. It'd be nice to bring back some old traditions, too. Things like patch jackets and a team banner.

I'd have to inquire as to if it would be a conflict of interest but if its not I'd love to. I'll see about it and PM you later. Thanks

Thanks for putting the info out there!! Since you guys are mainly out of rapids you should definately join us at our place for some fun games. I own 60 acres just outside pittsville. We play around out here with bulldogs/shadow korps and anyone else who cares to come. We also will host a cookout again this summer and your more than welcome to join. We have the same philosophy as yourselves. You can read ours at the badgerbrigades site.
Later

Hey guys just wanted to let you know I made a practice thread for the 15th http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3027461. If you guys wanted to get some pump games in we will make the Hyperball side available to you prior to open play. Hopefully I see you guys out there.

Hey if you guys do go to stalker to play some hyperball drop me a pm. Maybe you can try to make it like players club used to be. I'm sure I could get at least me and another person out there.
I stopped in at Stalkers to talk to Mike. It sounds like he's focusing more on getting some walkon business back and he's starting to schedule the private groups. He's never on pbn.
