Your absolutely right... and that to me is the deal breaker to this program unless it gets fixed somehow on the 5th. There are too many L2 teams that will not want to play the L1 teams in an event for prizes.

I can't say i agree with it all or understand a few of the rankings, BUT!!! Paintball has needed this for a very long time. I can see another league war heating up. The new USPL 7-man league isn't gonna follow this. All in all it's good.

do the local mps standings effect the elligability of a team for divisions in a nation event?

( i think this is a great idea! just wish the info wouldnt have been so lengthy.)

If a team in L4 already has 3 events or more prior to this 2009 season, I will NOT make them bump up. However, after playing in 3 events in this 2009 season, they will need to bump up to the next level in the 2010 season.

One of the things I mentioned to Chirs is how I don't agree making a team who played in all the events in L4 but didn't place... makeing them bump up. Maybe that is one of the things that will be discussed on the 5th. Time will tell.

it depends on what you placed in those events. If you placed 1st, then you wouldn't even be able to play L4 in the current MPS rules.

The only fix in this i see is if you make L1 an x-ball format. The only problem is the field hosting would have to have two separate fields for L1 and L2. Also consider the ref training for x-ball and the money teams would have to spend for paint.

I would talk to Chris Raehl about how you can incorporate season points in the "open" division. Would it be Division 3 or Division 2?

Or leagues could choose not to participate in this system and just allow teams to play in the national events in there respective divisions.

Under the current plan, participation at the regional level (MPS) would *NOT* affect your PSP classification. One item under discussion is that you'd only be able to play down one level when moving from regional event to PSP events - so if you were playing D3 all season, you couldn't then go jump in D5 at Cup (you'd have to play at least D4). This makes sense to me.

As for an Open division, there is no rule that says all divisions have to fit in this program. So if MPS wanted to run something that counted for D5, D4, D3 (or some combination thereof) and also an Open division, they could.

So, for example, you culd have D5, D4, and D3 (Beginner, Rookie, Novice, count for national standings) and Open (doesn't). Or instead of Open, you could have D2, which would count for standings.

It would be up to MPS to place players in one of the three classes this season. But at the end of 2009, all players would move up on the same criteria. For example, any player who had a total of 165 points in their best three D5 events would be moved up to D4. Or a player with 246 points in their best three scores in D4 would be moved up to D3. I don't think there's currently any plan to move players up out of D3 based on 5-man play.

AARG all this reading is making me go blind.... I feel this new classification can only help us in not allowing sandbagging. It is almost like you have to move up to continue playing. Which should be in everyones goal for tournament paintball. otherwise you should just play rec or speedball..
