We ended up with 24 teams is very easy. We received money from multiple teams on the same day, and the envelopes were all postmarked for the same day as well. We decided there was no fair way to choose which teams would get in and which would not, so we re-worked the schedule to accomodate the teams and moved the cap to 24 teams.

We want to thank DSS, VICIOUS, and MPG for a wonderful day today! We had a great time and always love making the trip down there. We'd also like to thank all of the other teams for a good time! Congrats to the top teams, and every other team that played.
We look forward to the next 2 events at Metro!

Big thanks to MPG, DSS, and all faculty/refs. Refs did a great job of keeping the field clean between rounds and inflating bunkers. Free bananas, cookies, and donuts wasn't a bad surprise either (:
Well run tournament, looking forward to #2 March 1st

Very fun, well run, and well reffed event! Games could not have been kept moving any faster, and all the teams were very civil to eachother despite the close arrangments. 11 games was a pretty long/exhausted/expensive preliminary round, but who can argue with getting to play more paintball?
The only other thing was that I heard several players express their concern about how they kept accidently shooting the reffs because they were unable to tell them from the other team. Dark long sleeves may not be ther best color for reffs to wear at an indoor event. A brighter color like orange or neon green may save the reffs a few hundred welts (something I'm sure they are very interested in)
All in all, I had a great time and can't wait to see everyone again at the next one. Thanks to Vicious/DSS, Greg, Ben, Julie, Karen, and everyone else who worked so hard to make this event a success.

We will have our 09 reff shirts by the next event. They will be very birght and easy to see they are not a player. Parker and I had a laugh or two at some of the reffs that were getting shot so it was ok lol.
In the preliminary round we went with 11 games to make sure all the team had a fair shot at making the next round. This way if a team started slow they would still have a shot at getting hot and winning enough games to make the next round. After the first round the cuts were very fast as it was just head to head best 2 out of 3.
We (Vicious/DSS) and a few other teams played the layout on Saturday to get a feel for how much paint would be shot to play 11 games. All 3 teams that kept track of the amount of paint it took us to play 11 games and the average number was 3.75 cases per team. If your team shot more than say 4 or 5 cases in the first round then I would say you could try playing the layout a little more aggeresive.
We will always try and make the layouts where a team is able to take a small risk to make a good spot very quickly in the game, as that is how we like to play so we like to reff/watch that style of play.
Like always we are open to any teams ideas that play our events (please be smart). If you have an idea that you think would make the event better post it or PM me your ideas.
We would like to thank all the teams for showing up and making it a great first event. There was some really good games and we did have to play a few 1 on 1 tie breakers and those are always fun to watch.
Thanks
Greg

lol it wasnt that great trust me! getting stuck between the two dorrittos and the roller was a horrible place haha. I was really impressed with how the teams played the fields, everyone did rather well. And yes the 2 1 on 1's was pretty intense to watch. It is gonna be a great series to ref/watch, good luck to everyone!
