Thumbs up PSP ROF drop and why its a GOOD thing..

i think this is a REALLY good thing for the sport. if everybody quit whining and looked just a little deeper, then i think you might just realize it. took me while too but..

the good part is that companies will be less obligated to extend or continue sponsorships to newer or already sponsored teams. the ROF plays a HUGE role in this. less paint shot means more loyalty and affordability for the sponsoring company to continue a sponsorship or give out more. and those who dont have sponsorships and spend their own money on paint will have more money to spend on other essentials (guns, tanks, ect..) not to mention that the cost itself is slowly driving players away from the sport..

along with that.. companies will have more money for advertisement and technological advancement (i.e. more promotion of paintball as a sport and better products)

like it or not, paintball is not the most popular sport out there.. with this change, it could help a little. sure, its not going to make paintball an olympic sport or anything.. but it will assure a little more stable economy for the players and the companies. players will have more opportunities. and companies will have less to worry about and more to give.

if i missed anything, do tell

Paint cost is the reason I have been driven further away from the paintball scene. Fix that please... Thanks

I think it's going to seperate the men from the boys, personally. No more just pouring pod after pod down a lane in hopes that someone will run through it. It'll take a little more skill to lane someone (hell, it will take the emphasis off laning in general), and will force people to be more aggressive and better snap-shooters/gun battlers.

I was kind of hoping they'd keep it at 12bps across the board, but whatever. I play with a mech cocker 90% of the time, so I'm already quite accustomed to a 10bps limit...

there are people who will point out that teams shot more at 13 than at 15, You should address that now before they come in. The problem is teams are not moving more in response to the smaller amount of paint in the air. Once they realize there are moves there that werent there before games will be blown wide open much faster and less paint will be shot.

The ROF drop is a good thing. The laning is a part of the game, like it or not, but I think that with the ROF drop it is going to become a smaller part of the game. It seems like without a huge lane flying down the field, we'll have a much more fastpaced game with more moving and less sitting and shooting your gun..........

I think it'll help put more emphisis on the player rather then the marker and allow for more movement which will make the game more fun to play(IMO) and deffinatly more fun to watch(although I think the push to get paintball on TV is a bad thing)

We shot lanes back in the pre electro tourney days, and few if any of us could hit 10BPS. Laning won't go away, it'll just change in terms of how its used.

Getting paintball on tv would grow the sport... a lot.

But trying to get paintball on TV is killing it. The sport isn't ready for TV, and people don't want to watch it. How many times has it failed now? How much money has been wasted trying? Sponsors and promoters need to put that money into making thier events better instead of wasting thier time trying to get paintball on TV for the umteenth time.

Let me just say one thing...

With the economy in its current state, there really isn't much room for it to grow/increase in supporters. New people aren't going to pay $50 + $15 entrance fee just to play once... And thats if they have their own markers.

Its going to be like this for a few years lady's and gentlemen, get used to it.
