How to make grips for the Fusion/Any other gun!
Updated pictures 2/8/09!!!
IF YOU MAKE THESE WITH AN OPTICAL TRIGGER, YOU MUST ADD ELECTRICAL TAPE OVER THE AREA OF THE SENSOR OR YOU WONT SHOOT! Just a little sunlight can really throw off that sensor! I just placed a strip of tape over the top of the grip parallel with the bottom line to make it nice and tidy.
So I had some time on my hands since my wife went to go see the Sex in the City movie last night. so I decided to try to make my own grips. I used sheets on Lexan from Lowes, traced the original grips, then used a Dremel with a cutting disk on it to cut them out. Used some sandpaper to bevel the edges, and WA-LA! This was just the first attempt. I will be making some other ones soon when I get a chance since these are still a little rough. I will also try to get some thicker Lexan....the stuff Lowes carried was *slightly* too thin, but it did only cost $4 a sheet (bought 2 just in case). Oh yeah---I used some smoke paint used for automotive taillights that i had laying around to make them smoked, but then it was drying I used a Q-tip to remove some of the color where the little window for the LED was on the original grip. Come to find out, I didnt have to do that, but oh well.
Update:Here are some pictures of my new grips using Corel Draw X4 and printing the pictures out on Avery #18665 "Clear Full Sheet Labels". I printed them out using 1200dpi on my printer, and about 2% bigger than the templates when they fit perfectly. I did that to compensate in case my grips were a little off from the templates. Anyways, Enjoy! There are more pictures on page 3 at the bottom.

Dude, that looks awesome! Good job. Just shows how easily things can be created with a little bit of thought and time. What you should do is take a larger drill bit (appropriately sized of course), and drill a recess on top and into the screw holes so you can use recessed, flat-top screws that will be flush with the grip. Then paint the screws black, and you're set. Although, you may need thicker lexan if you wanted the screws to sit flush with the grip, as that might be too thin.

Yes, as the other post was moved to the BST forum, and the link wasnt working correctly (people couldnt access it).
I would have to buy thicker stuff in order to recess the screws, and to tell you the truth I am looking to upgrade to a G3 or Threshold, so I am not adding to much stuff on this gun. However, if APE ever comes out with their board for the F7, I may just be keeping it!

You could use glue that dries clear, and you could put some cool pix, or anime or whatever you are into on the inside of the grips facing out. We used to do stuff like that to our RC cars on the inside of the bodies.
Just a thought!

Oh yeah. Did some work on her (eigenram, magnetic trigger from TBO-which he doesnt even sell, and hopefully going to upgrade the board soon). Personally I love the F8 cap---dont need the LPR for the Fusion, and it shoots +/- 3fps all day long. Do like the CP ASA better though. I also lubed the trigger with Militec (the best lube out there for real, or paintball, guns) and the I have no bounce issues. Trigger is super sweet now!

If you're going to upgrade the board, I would suggest the Scenario Dreams T-Board, I heard that they're like $20 now. Definitely a great price for a great upgrade.

Was curious about that board....but I think I really want a microswitch. I am waiting for APE to get off their *** and get their board to market. I still really need to think whether or not I am going to continue to try to trade my gun for another (DP only---G3 or Threshy). I finally have my gun set up the way I like for the most part, and it is just so easy to care for, so I am kinda hesitant. I was also considering the 7th Element board for them, which uses the microswitch, but seems like not too many people have used them. If I am going to keep the gun even the Virtue board is a worthy consideration, but I am not going to drop $150 on a board just to lose a ton of the value if I go to trade/sell.
