We just spoke with Chuck Hendsch and he confirmed that there will be a Huntington Beach tournament after all. Although Chuck told us he could only pass on limited information at this time, he did give us dates. The HB event will take place April 2nd through 5th 2009. He continued, "The format will be
7 and 5 player. We will also be hosting a trade show, new product releases and demo’s from several companies. We will also be rolling out some new changes to our event which should enhance the player’s experience. This will be the event of all events."

what is actually funny here is that there was a newsletter sent out by the Huntington Beach Gazette I beleive stating that due to environmental hazards, there would be no HB...i'll post the link later

the letter said the promoters canceled the event which was contraversal because of the paint left on the ground, it did not say that the city banned the event, but they did have some locals complaining about the condition the players left the place in.

so if you are going to go, clean your **** up. we don't want to get kicked out of the best venue paintball has ever known.

another thread specified that the paintballs went as ar as the street and sidewalk nearby, where people stepped on them or had their cars hit by them - implying that alot of the paintballs were from bounces off of bunkers. the logical solution would be to ceiling-net the fields. how difficult or expensive this would be is not something i am knowledgeable in though.

The article stated that someone had gotten paint on their car - it did not imply anything in the way as to how the paint got to the street. I would assume that someone "Dropped" them there on their way out. Maybe their pod opened up as they were carrying their gear back to the hotel, maybe something else. However, having been to the event several years in a row now I don't see how a significant volume of paintballs could have made their way to the street from actual game play. The fields were not placed close to the street - in fact there was either a parking lot or vendor area between the fields and the street.
