not surprising. I am surprised people are so naive sometimes. Like when they come home are like "OMFG I got $250 under invoice." Do you really think the dealer is selling it to you at a loss? I doubt it. Any to believe that a high dollar item like an escalade has such a thin margin is crazy.

last car my dad bought was listed at 24k.. they kept saying it had no room. he said ill take it for 18k otd. he got it for 18.5.. he asked afterwards if they did ok and they said yeah.. its a joke. hes been in sales his whole life and they had to realize he wasnt messing around lol. the guy at first was like we make no money off used cars we cant take much off..
he bought my sister a brand new civic 4 door that was listed at 20 something for 17 otd. most dealers told him to get ****ed and one was like lets do this. in an out.

Seems like now is a good time to buy a leftover new vehicle, because the dealerships have some awesome deals going.
The invoice price is pretty close to what price the dealer pays on base escalades, unless they're a big dealer and can get volume discounts from the manufacturer. They actually aren't big money makers for dealerships, but they are (were?) for GM (as they don't cost much more to make than tahoes).

Escalades have a 6.2 already don't they? So really just boost it.

Boosting the stock L92 only gets about 550hp safely. It isn't made for boost, so it would have to be rebuilt for it. With that being the case I would rather just swap in a crate LS9 and sell the L92. It would be a lot easier, and might end up being cheaper depending on how they price the LS9 crate engine.

What's a pulled L92 worth? About $5,500?
So figure, buy an LS9 for $20k and sell the stocker L92 for $5,500 means it ends up costing ~$14,500 just for the swap.
Or, if you take the stock L92 out, have it built up professionally like the LS9 and it would probably wind up costing ~$5000, maybe more. Then throw the blower on for another $6,000, we're talking a minimum of $11,000 to use the stock engine and get basically the same thing.
So, you wind up saving probably $3500 or less building it versus just buying the LS9. Tough call as it seems to be pretty close as far as pricing goes, I guess it would depend on what kind of deals you could get.

I'd rather build an LSX from scratch with more cubes. Or start with a C5R block like lingenfelter did.

Then you're talking even more money, as you would have to buy the block, build it from basically scratch, and throw the blower on it or turbo it.
Which is why Lingenfelter charges $50k for a setup like that.

They're trying to compensate for the $40,000 you'll probably spend on gas each year.
