Exactly. Depending on the chapter they file, they can reorganize the business within or sell to another company. Bankruptcy doesn't mean that the league is not going to continue to exist, it just means they have a lot of debt that they cant catch up on and they need a breather.

i just got a text message from someone close to the nppl. Basically as of 5pm pacific paintball will cease operations. Basically this also means someone with fund can come in an try to buy PP at pennies on the dollar.

Regional Divisions for major leagues would alleviate huge costs for events. Take the NHL, NFL, CFL, CXBL, AXBL... Should I continue, as an example.
People are not going to fly across the country 4-5 times a year to play a tournament. Driving 5hours to a day is alot more economically feasible and economically friendly.
And yes the economy cannot be blamed entirely for this bankruptcy but im sure it wont help attracting anyone to invest in the nppl :/

You mean when the banks are not lending out money and are on the verge of bankruptcy themselves?

Everyone had to see this coming. NPPL attendance was way down, the format is not as fun to watch and in this day and age, you NEED crowd participation to keep people other than the players interested.
No pro sport has TWO main leagues, they always merge or one goes under. It was a matter of time, thats that

Maybe someone will pull 4 fields together and do what the league should have... events like the MAO @ pbcentral. Gives the field some money instead of huge rental fees to stadiums.
The nppl name being dead is sad, thats just a mental thing for me.
I wonder which debtor gets paintball.com
I like the super 7 format and that they had a pump div. I was actually going to go and play some events for kicks, no need to knock the rust off now.
I'd bet they are the first of three to go under before the snow is gone.

Rip nppl.
but from this happening all the psp can do is go forward from this happening and try and attract the teams that were playing only in nppl and make the psp something that they would want to come and play in order to make the psp the ultimate tournament.
and i doubt HB would be the first event cause i bet the psp already has a location set for the first event. But i think that the first event will be one of the bigger tradeshow/player event because now the vendors do not have to spend so much more money traveling to 2 tournaments with in a week of each other. so in a way the death of the NPPL is only going to help out the vendors and psp.
but all we can do is cross our fingers and hope for something good to happen.

I highly doub all NPPL teams are going to convert. There are players who dislike the PSP format.

psp will get all the money now and we may get it back on tv.
and alot of other good things that could happen that i dont feel like listing also

IT could also charge much more for vendors, players, and spectators. There is two sides to this.
