You can't really tell the difference other then the feel/texture.

Don't let the Composite frame bother you. It is a nice frame that will hold up. Composite frames used to be the norm on most if not all of the high-ends throughout the 90's (Autocockers & Automags.) the majority of the players who say bad things about them haven't really been involved in the sport that long, all they know are the aluminum frames. Most have jumped on the "if it's not $800+ the marker is crap" band wagon anyways.

im more or less in the same boat . i picked on up as a back up since its going to probably be my last marker purchase for a looooong time. i like the composite frame . reason being if i ever decide to paint the frame it will be easy.

when you have a ball in the breach your LED should go from solid red to solid green and with eyes off it's a flashing red so trying a fresh battery would never hurt

Blinking green lights means your eyes need to be cleaned. Either that or low battery. If you turn your eyes off and it fires fine, should just be your eyes need to be cleaned. depends if it's new or not though. the default battery that came with mine hasn't given me probs yet.

Also check if your bolt is no on the forward position (acting like a ball in the breech)
