wow...nppl is boring...
am i the only one that thinks nppl is alot harder to watch than xball? cuz of lack of excitement. hmmm 2 minutes of people shooting lanes while one guy moves, 10 minutes in bettween games, 3 more minutes of people shooting lanes, repeat forever. its cool that they're offering a webcast, but they need to spice it up a bit. of course things will probably get better once the prelims are over...just my opinion....flame away

1. It's paintball
2. It's paintball on the internet
3. It's FREE paintball on the internet
1 > Nothing
2 >> Nothing & 1
3 >>> Nothing & 1 & 2
This is much better than nothing AND you don't have to pay 9.95 for it!!!

NPPL and PSP are the 2 dominant national paintball leagues.
NPPL is based around 7-man (though they now have a 5-man division) and is simply elimination based.
PSP is the other league, and they have standard 5-man and X-Ball.
X-ball consists of 2 halfs in which the teams race to a certain number of points. (It varies per division)
General idea of the 2 differences...

For not having played in 5 years I still enjoy watching NPPL.
Whether or not players make bunkers, how they move around the field, and generally their lane assignments still interest me as much as when I was playing.

They are 2 different leagues.
Extremely basic break-dowm
PSP (Paintball Sports Promotions)= X-Ball and 5 man. 125ft x 75ftfield Uses PSP ramping and NXL full auto. www.pspevents.com
NPPL (National Professional Paintball League) = 7-man and Divisonal 5-man. 150ft x 65(?)ft, uses Semi-Auto only www.nppl.com

a few seconds? have you played/watched xball before
just because the games arent close to 5 or 6 minutes long doesnt make it not exciting. its more exciting when people are constantly moving and people have to react quicker to the other team. it also takes a lot more endurance to play an xball match, cause you dont have 30 minutes in between games

no i do not have add...i just think if your going to pay $2000 you should get to play more than 7 games....
while i think the ramping thing does take something out of it....and i dont think its necessary at all (probably thought up by the paint companies...cuz last time i played an xball event we shot like 75 cases...) i just like the whole you play a team a bunch of times so you KNOW who the winner is. all it takes is one lucky ball and things can change.
at least i'm not the only one though...

It's free, it's paintball, I'll watch it.
But this is like pulling teeth compared to the PSP web cast. I'd much rather pay a nominal fee, to watch MUCH better, MUCH more exciting paintball, than this. Not to mention the horrendous lag...

X-ball was created for the sole purpose of making paintball more entertaining to watch. It's a lot more fast paced, there are a lot more breakouts, which is the most exciting part for most people, and because you have less at stake per point people do crazier stuff.

Because I like to argue....
7man isn't elimination based. Eliminations/men alive are actually worth fewer points than flag pull/hangs.
In win, lose, or draw games (finals), the flag is all that matters.

The flag of course, is conveniently placed on the other teams startbox as well. So getting to the flag is essentially composed of getting all eliminations.
