All of you quit your whining, you sound like little kids who just had their candy taken away.

This was put in place for protection of the members, and no matter how hard you try, you won't get it taken off. If you're posting here, it's probably likely you would know what not to do. Too bad it's the people who have no common sense that the admins are having to deal with after they're stupid, and then their account gets phished

I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but maybe have an option for users in their profile to disable this? Maybe require users to input their password and something else to confirm their choice and also warn them that PBN will not be responsible for anything that happens?

Just my suggestion.

A lot of the complaints I've seen so far are just reactionary. The time staff spends working with users reclaiming accounts, and the amount of grief users undergo when they do fall victim to phishing far outweigh the amount of time it takes to glance at a url and click it.
really so you know how to run code in c++ that has no script?
and just make it to where you can disable it... i mean some people are smart. and what he said is true about firefox. using adlock with the natural anti-phising, anti-pop up, and anti spam your pretty much set. the only thing you wouldn't be protected against is malware and that is an easy fix.

that is actually a good suggestion. being that most people notice when they are sent a pm that says can you help me? on the message they know to probably ignore it.

Since nobody reads previous posts in normal colors, sizes, and non-bolded/italicized text, I have to restate this. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A DISABLE/ENABLE FEATURE SO STOP "SUGGESTING" IT.

Not punished at all. This is a minor inconvenience for some and while you are tolerating it you can click that link happily knowing that it will most likely save a ton of people from being phished. Lets not be selfish here and no matter how 'stupid' you think it is to fall into a phisers trap, it does happen.

I have a good suggestion. Make an option in the user CP to be able to disable this.

But now on to a more serious note. What makes you think this is not possible. I believe when he field finder came out the mods stated that they would not make an option to disable it but what'a know... They found a way.

It was coming straight from the horses mouth. Plus I wouldn't want to deal with hundreds of people who get their accounts phished annually

If you are stupid enough to click random links, talk to random people and not pay just minor attention to what you're doing, you won't get phished. I have been here for 2 years and the first phishing PM I got was last week.

Why not do what ebay and paypal did and make a plugin for explorer and mozilla?

Install the plugin for pbnation so that any look-a-likes would be flagged and warn users of it possibly being a phishing site. They already made a search button for mozilla.
It wouldn't have to be a new toolbar, just a plugin program that would warn of a link that might be a phishing site.

I have gotten probably 5 phishing PMs and you can tell by the way they word it "he, you asked for pics, here they are: pIcS!!1!11!!!" or something along those lines. I mean, you really do have to be a complete idiot to fall for those (yes, I am insulting anyone that has fallen for it as you must be an idiot)

This sucks, Please have an option to disable this, it's not fair that since we have dumb people we all suffer. It's annoying.

What the phisher(s) say now is definitely stupid. Although when i got phished there was a mistake, i must have accidentally clicked on the link and later opened up a myspace link to login, but when i went back to login (sometimes i type the url in and sign in later) i must have logged in to the wrong one. I know it happened late at night before i went to bed so i probably just turned my computer off and went to sleep.

But as i said before, this warning could have saved me because that annoying warning certainly doesn't look like a myspace page (which i guess i thought it was).
