On Duty, What is something you love/miss about it?
Title explains it, explain something you love(d) when you were out there.

On duty as in Iraq? Or on duty as in the military?
For Iraq, I miss calling in Kiowas/Apaches/m119s/m109s/m198s and dropping Haj with my .50 and rifle. Pretty much it... I just miss the addrenaline rushes.
As for the military... I just miss the friends I made, and the training for offing Haj.

Pretty much... got two of em inked on my right arm and I've been wearing a bracelet for two of em on my right wrist for over a year. That's the worst part about the military. Lost 9 friends in Iraq... 2 of which were a couple of the closest friends I'll prolly ever have in life.

My friends that didn't make it
You guys have it somewhat easy...
I had 5 KIA's in my platoon last deployment... knocking on their spouses door was the most depressing thing I've ever done...

I miss the friends no doubt. For those of us who've been fighting for the past 7 years, its become kind of surreal once you have to think about each guy who died because there's been that many who you know...
There's lots of good stuff as well. I've been fortunate enough to work with dudes who are very similar to me in personality and drive so things have gone pretty smoothly. The brotherhood and chances which I've been presented with have made this an awesome career for me so far.

I miss all my friends. I missed one of my hometowns friends funerals last week...he was KIA in Afghanistan. His name was cory and he was a true warrior. I hate watching my friends die so young, but i am ****ing proud of them for being real men.

I lost a close friend in Iraq. and 4 others from my Co. 22 from our Btn.....
As for duty as in Iraq....just being able to do what ever when ever really. I hate the drivers in the US they're a bunch of *****es....
In the states....fire watch...I don't miss it that is just about all I do really other then work the boards or do drills with my gun team.

I'm just a boot but I miss being in the field (training). As much as it sucked it was some good times. With my MOS though we don't do much on deployments so there is lots of stuff to volunteer for I'm told. I hear we can volunteer to deploy with flying squadrans too because they always need a few engine guys.

Deployments are like a break from life. You have only one thing to do. No more real world bull****. Finding this forum is making me miss the Army as a whole now...
