How does the price of stock change?

Is it the more shares of a company are bought, the higher the quote? Or vice versa?

Many things affect stock prices,
-economic conditions (right now)
-Potential growth in companies
-Confidence in investors
-hype/new products.
are just some of many reasons.
there are too many to list because there are just too many things even rumours can bring stocks crashing hard.

The price of a stock is decided by the number of buyers and sellers. The goal of the stock's price is to create a market in which the number of buyers is equal to the number of sellers.

investopedia.com:

"If more people want to buy a stock (demand) than sell it (supply), then the price moves up. Conversely, if more people wanted to sell a stock than buy it, there would be greater supply than demand, and the price would fall"

From what i understand, this is all done electronically

The simple short answers are above and correct.

However pricing, order matching, price manipulation are very complex. I still don't understand it most of the time...?

Supply and Demand. The more people want THAT stock, the higher the price.

Now, thats a very lehmans definition of stock values, because so much goes into how that demand and supply is calculated.
