this line up also known as the BLADERUNNER PROJECT
Excellent audience recording in Paris (La Villette Jazz festival) 5 July 2000
I don't know if this concert has already been shared, but it's the first time I share my recording, and (in all modesty) I don't think you could find a better one.
Extract of a Dave Lombardo interview :
Question : What has been your most memorable or inspirational gig and why?
Lombardo: "In Paris at a jazz festival. I played there with John Zorn and Bill Laswell, the dub producer, and Fred Frith, the guitar player/sound effects guy. We did an improv there that brought the people to their feet — it was just amazing. We clicked so well that night that I don't think it was ever recreated again. That showed what could come out from your inside naturally — a musical experience that only happens not very often."
The music of these guys is unlike anything I've heard before, uncompromising, certainly not easy listening, provocative maybe... It's not jazz, it's not rock, it's not funk but it's all this ! Some reviewer call this music "jazzcore" which seems sometimes appropriate even if the music can be very smooth and spacey also.
As Lombardo said it, it's free music : this concert was all improvised but wait.. my friend who came with me at the concert said he would have swear that it was all composed !

Patton Introduction Tape
4-Track recording, Billy Gould's attic, San Francisco, CA
1988-??-??
01-The Cowboy Song
02-Surprise! You're Dead!
03-Underwater Love
04-Falling To Pieces
Recorded on 4-Track in Bill Gould's attic as a demonstration of Mike Patton for Faith No More's management and their record company (Slash). Two copies of this tape exist, dubbed directly from the 4-Track by Bill onto tapes with pre-existing music on them.
This copy was sold on eBay in September 2006 after being found in a Hollywood, CA thrift shop in a box of other music industry demo tapes along with a copy of Mr Bungle's 4th demo "OU818" and 4 photos of Mike Patton taken in a Photo Vending Machine.
These are rough versions of the songs, most likely played live into the 4-Track. The music and lyrics are early versions and contain many differences from the final recordings.
The exact timing of the recording is unknown but FNM's first gig with Patton was in Nov 1988 and so this recording was probably made before that.
This is the missing link between Mike Patton in Mr. Bungle and Mike Patton in Faith No More and is a must for all collectors.

In 2006, Body Count returned to the stage from a ten year hiatus at the Knit (Main Space). To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect while listening. I hoped to hear certain songs from the band's first album, the self-titled "Body Count". I also knew this tour was supporting the band's new release "Murder 4 Hire". BC was awesome. Ernie C is a masterful guitarist. Ice demanded attention and got it. Leaning on the old catalog was probably a good idea - the crowd responded enthusiastically. Highlights were "Body Count's In The House", "KKK B*tch", "There Goes The Neighborhood", and "Voodoo". Additionally, I lol'd during "Cop Killer". T was like: "...cops can suck my d*ck!!! I play one on tv (on Law and Order: SVU)....they can still suck my d*ck!!!!....". Good one, Ice.

A fabulous night in rock history - John Lennon made a guest appearance during the show, his first stage performance in years. When Lennon is murdered in December of 1980, this becomes his last ever concert appearance.
Lennon is reported as being terrified before going on and the thunderous reception almost brought him and Elton John to tears.
Elton and John had made an agreement, after they had appeared on each other's singles earlier in 1974, that if Lennon's single Whatever Gets You Through The Night made #1, then Lennon would appear onstage with Elton. John Lennon appeared on Elton's cover of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.
Elton John: "We did I Saw Her Standing There which was great and I was so glad we did that. Originally I said, 'Let's do two numbers, but you'll have to do another. Why not do Imagine?' He said, 'Oh no, boring. I've done it before. Let's do a rock and roll song.' So I thought of I Saw Her Standing There which was the first track on the first Beatles album. And he never sang it. It was McCartney who sang it. John was so knocked out because he'd never actually sung the lead before."
"For us it was very emotional and one rock paper crucified us. But it was just an emotional night and nobody could believe it. I knew John would be petrified about doing it, but he really enjoyed it. I was more scared than he was, hoping things would go right for him. But the reaction when he walked on stage..."
"I wish he could have done more numbers because the reaction was so great. But he wanted to go upstairs and be sick. He told me he used to throw up before he went on stage. He came to Boston to see us before we did New York, and I've never seen anyone so nervous in my life. He was so worried for us."
