School days before the summer break... (part2: Back to school)

Today was fun even though I couldn't finish it like I wanted to, the teacher had to leave earlier..

I'd like to write a big text here but whatever. So here's the goodies.

Yes, that molested swirl got beaten up a little more, again..

That poor swirl...always getting surgery...

Doesn't look too bad but how are you going to re-anodize it?

Doing the hidden cuts because no money for a new dress. XBall is kinda expansive for a bum student... I also came to like its rugged look. Anyhow, it's a war tool, it's my tool, I use it, it'll get pretty when it'll be ready to be hung on the wall...

If I have time tomorrow, maybe I'll finnish the noid's area, it needs another cut, empty the battery area of the handle and maybe deepen the asa hidden pocket by another .200". Thing is the teacher would like me to work on other exercices from the class...

Youre not done yet? I couldnt work on outside stuff unless I finished the regular machining required for the course. Needless to say, I finished weeks in advance and proceeded to mill my first Autococker and modify severl other accessory items.

for DIYers.

Some of us are better off having Jared do it for us.

the awsome thing is, i have access to the machinery. I just am starting to learn how to use it. Also, all our stuff is manual. But i have been told we are getting a 3 axis mill in the next several months, and i have been nominated to learn Gcode and program it. Most likely cause i am a major nerd, and have learned various other languages at different times.

...but I negociated and will have access to a milling next week even though we'll clean them monday. First year is ending wednesday, I'll probably have a day or two to continue it.

A 3-axis CNC machine.
We have one. Learn G-code well. If it's a small unit, take very, very conservative cuts in terms of IPM/RPM. They're quite fun.

Yeah, sorry. CNC. my mind is still stuck in manual mill land.

Most of the work we have for it will be taking larger chunks out of peices of extruded aluminum. its mostly there to cut out teh_human factor of making poor cuts.

However, i plan on using it at night/evening for personal stuff. Being the bosses/owners son is a wonderful thing.

You could have split the trigger guard (unless your trying to keep it all hidden). Nice work btw.

Thanx for the good words everyone. I'm now off from school for the summer. Conventionnal milling is kind of scary but it was fun, and the results are satisfying. It could have been more satisfying, but I was time limited..

Jdom: Yeah, I was going for all hidden, but since that swirl is already showing bare material, I should have done the trigger guard split. Oh well, maybe in september..

T-Mac: Shushhh.. I missed more than a spot, but all is good in the end..
