I am contemplating starting an ice cream parlor.

Since it seems to be seasonal, what are your ideas for off months?

I really think an ice cream and soup place would make it. Ice cream when its hot soup when its cold. you cover the whole year!

There was an ice cream parlor near here that sold soup and chili during the ice cream offseason. They were doing pretty well until the couple that owned it got a divorce and closed it in a dispute.

I worked at DQ Grill and Chill for a year and a half. Just recently got a new job. But I was a part of management.

But anyway, if you want to open up anything ice cream, do a DQ Grill and Chill.
The profits are amazing. It is still seasonal, but you have food in the winter, and the summer makes up for it.

This year in June we make $180,000
$160,000 or so in August

Winter we make about $60-80,000.

But, a large billzard is $4.09 at my DQ. The cost for us to make that is 75 cents. 4 Piece chicken with a drink is about $7.00, costs us $1.75.

i know i guy that opened his own ice cream joint in northern(ish) wisconsin in the winter months i think he sold houses, but his place also sold great pizzas and sandwiches, but he closed his place from like January till like mid-late spring
