In my experience this is not the case. You're not supposed to drink in uniform anyways.

I'm a hard *** about that... I really crack down on my soldiers for getting wasted in uniform.... I actually go into bars on Fridays and Saturdays just to check and see if any of my soldiers are doing that bull**** (I have a lot of spare time)

Plus I put a lot of my pride into the men under my command

yeah thats a good point, i didnt really think about that. but theres a difference between having a beer to relax and getting blasted. i dont drink anyways so i dont have to worry about getting in trouble

The only Army post that I know of that is in the United States is, Fort bliss, Texas. Being that it is roughly a stones throw away from Mexico, the Army allows personell to drink "ON POST". That is what the rule was when I was there a few years back. Might have changed, or I may be wrong, I hope this helps.

Yeah its still currently the rule, they were having alot of issues with soldiers going and getting in trouble drinking in mexico. I thought the marines had instituted a similiar rule on a majority of their CONUS bases however I may be mistaken.
