yeah, we spend a year out to sea. in peace time you can still go on navy ships/subs or msc ships, but during a war they put you on war ships.

and i dunno if the whole lawn thing is an exaggeration, but i've heard it's true.

yes, we're the ugly stepchild of the service academies, BUT WE ARE A SERVICE ACADEMY. its also a lot harder than the other service academies and deserves more credit than it receives.

i had over 50 credits at the end of my plebe (freshman) year. we do 4 years of college in 3 and with the same budget that westpoint has for their lawn services. we also take legit science and engineering classes instead of political science/liberal arts. and one more thing, we have a battle standard. that means we had students die in war. all the other service academies do not send out their students.

im pretty sure midshipmen can't have a tv in their room until senior year. i remember going on a tour at Annapolis and hearing about it.

We just hosted a bunch of west pointers for the a&m army football game on saturday. I didn't really get to talk to any of them because i'm just a fish, but they said that we have to do go through a lot more procedure during our day-to-day activities then the plebes.

My sister is a plebe there now and my older brother was a grad and is a captain now. Its a great place and all, but I don't truly say it gives an officer any advantage over his peers aside from getting hooked up due to being a west pointer--which I have never personally seen but have heard plenty about. No matter where you attend, what you truly need to learn will be taught to you when you finally show up to a unit and the rest is on who you are as a person. Good luck.
