The Road

Couldn't find a thread on this.

It's another one of Cormac McCarthy's novels (No Country for Old Men), and the book was fantastic. If this movie is done like NCfOM, then it will be spectacular.

Basically, the world ends and there is no explanation. The entire book is just a man and his kid trying to survive. There is no vegetation, just remnants of what humans had created. They are constantly moving, because there are roving bands of cannibals and vagrants who have no issue with eating/killing/raping them. The landscape is barren and the atmosphere is cold, the only sense of warmth coming from shoddy fires and the man and his son, who are never named.

There are some pretty gruesome scenes in the book, and it was utterly compelling. I've read a few of McCarthy's novels, and they're all disturbing and disgustingly intriguing. I will definitely go see this movie.

Sounds like it'd be interesting to see the view of the director.
Hm. I'll definitely look into this.

Nice, I read this book for school this summer, and I liked it but it was kind of dull/repetitive, but they always make the movies more exciting, so this should be good.

Excellent book, the part when they go in the house with the cellar had me going nuts. Interested to see how they adapt this...

The book told an alright story, even if it felt like it was written by a five year old. I'll still see the movie.

Oh yeah, for sure. The only thing I didn't like is how little he elaborates. He leaves so much to the imagination it frustrates me. The scene with the two men and the pregnant woman was crazy too.

I've also read No Country and Child of God. Child of God was insane.
