6'4 140! Damn, I feel really, really, really skinny being 5'11 145ish

But on a serious note, I only do light cardio 2-3 times a week.

Around 20 minutes of jogging, nothing special.

Actually, I already suggested making a running thread to someone else earlier tonight. It was a very good try though.

How much do you have to eat a day to maintain your current size? Since you are 6'4" and young you would already have to eat alot, and thats without the amount of calories you burn running....damn. Also, are you worried about your knee health when you are older?

Guys lay off now, just because he doesn't have much muscle mass doesn't mean that he doesn't eat. At 6'4" and running that much, he has to pack down a SERIOUS amount of food.

im on a 5000 calorie diet right now thats 70% carbs
when track comes around and i am competing i will bump that up to 6000 calories with 65% from carbs
and ua, i already have bad joints. thats the reason i take glucosomine and chondrotion every morning. if i dont i feel the damage i have already done and running is painful.

if i dont eat at least 4500 calories a day i start loseing weight. when im not running and not eating as much my weight is about 129

thanks. and its not that i dont have muscle. its just that i dont have muscle mass. it dosent pay to build mass when i have to carry every extra ounce that much more in a race. i mean i can bench my body weight and squat 350

Thats about what i assumed you had to eat. Do you eat alot of carbs for a reason, or because its the easiest macronutrient to eat alot of? Also, you're better off ignoring featherlite than questioning his strength as he can squat more than your leg press.

easy tough guy.

Leg press is more than the machine can hold.
Calf raise is until I get bored piling more plates on.

I typically lift free weights, in which case for legs I squat 600 and deadlift 550.

That mile time is legit...

But man, as good as you are at your sport, aren't you a bit worried about how difficult of a time you're going to have walking in like 15-20 years? That's really my main reason for avoiding long-distance running. (I ask because I don't know many long-distance runners, so I'd like to get your perspective.)

I basically already asked him that for the same reason as you. He said he already takes glucosimine condrontin(sp)

I'm asking what kind of things he's heard or may be worried about. Just so people can make up their minds about running. It's mostly for my own information.

the main thing with knee problems is wearing out of the cartlidge between the two bones. thats why every time i see people running with sub par footwear i cringe. they are the people that will run less yet have more knee pain down the line because the shoe just isnt built to withstand the forces of running. it might be a running shoe but in order for it to be quality i would say it should come from a specility running store that fits you and your stride. as for walking i know many coaches that are mid 60's and still walk and run fine. it is the people that dont take care of themselves with proper footwear or maybe glucosimine chondrotion that will have issues. i would also suggest not running on cement as much as possible since the force of running on it is more then double the force you put on your knee's if you run on trail or grass.

the glucosimine chondrotion is because i grew 11 inches in a year and my cartlidge still hasent caught up

the carbs are because i need sustained energy for long periods of time. today i did a 17 mile run. the carbs are there to provide a nice cushon so i dont go into shock or run out of energy and begin to go anarobic. the fact its easy to eat alot of carbs is also a factor but wasent weighed heavily by my nutrinitist.
