ok,i know that may not have been the right thing for the guy to do and this kind of thing happens alot, but i cant believe soldiers get discharged and even sentenced to prison for this stuff.it makes me sick that this country does that to its own military
edit:not bashing the military or anything, especially since im in it lol.im just saying i think its wrong.i think they should be punished, but nothing close to that much

Well I agree with the sentence, there would of been a uproar if he got away scott free.. next time don't get caught, most of the Iraq and Afghan vets here would of done the same thing, I know I would of.. The command prolly let the detainees go and the soldiers killed them..

So this guy lets the murder of 4 people occur and you want him to get off scott free?
The quote in that article is exactly correct, no man should ever be judge, jury and executioner, and you should be punished if you act like you are.

He is not Judge Judy and executioner!!!
/hot fuzz
I agree with the sentence. I personally would have just hit the guys once or twice, nothing brutal. Just something to say "**** you, you killed my friends." And i know that even that is bad, but still.

His sentenced was deserved...even he admitted to it which attests to something...

He stood guard while his buddies killed noncombatants. I feel for the guys and can certainly see why they would do it, but at the same time you gotta ask yourself when does it turn from being revenge into an outright atrocity.

I sort of understand.. but honestly a lot of people, including myself, have been in a situation where we wanted badly to take 'revenge' for the death of a comrade. The difference is, we restrained ourselves because we are professional soldiers and not animals. I want to return to my family as a man, not a murderer. It really sickens me that the perpetrators were senior NCOs and even put their soldiers in this position.

He deserves what he's getting and more imo. Soldiers are supposed to be the professionals showing the rest of the world our good qualities. Not loose cannon murderers.

The guy shouldn't be in the military if he behaves like that.

Getting only a BCD for conspiracy to murder would have been outrageous.

He committed a dishonorable act, and you want him to be discharged as if he didn't? As others have said, our soldiers are professional soldiers. He was not taught to allow the murder of civilians, suspected enemies, or even detained enemy combatants.

stupid move on the part of all the soldiers that were involved. you don't under any circumstances start executing pow's on the battlefield. this guy deserves what he got. these men do not deserve to wear the uniform.
