Rechargeable Batteries

Hey sorry if this thread is redundant, but i did skim the stickies.

do any of you guys have experience with rechargeable batteries and the epiphany? im probly going to end up buying a 9.6 volt Java for my spyder project soon, will that be ok with the epiphany as well?

also, im looking for something that i can buy 3 or 4 rechargeable 9 volts (i need them for my empire and eVLution II) and just recharge them all at once. as of now im running free reball practices at my school's field, and the only thing i have to pay for is air and batteries, and i would love to cut out the battery cost out of the equation, but im afraid of buying batteries that are too weak or dont hold enough juice for a whole practice (we played 3 hours yesterday).

paying $9 per practice in batteries is just getting old.

i don't know...the rechargeable 9.6 might fry your board

the regular rechargeables might not have enough Ohms. i think its best to stay with the regular 9.0 duracells or energizers.

it just sucks because this and air are the only 2 things i have to pay for. i would love to cut out the battery cost.

does anyone know what Ohms a normal duracell or energizer has?

The 9.6v Java's work well. I have 5 of them. 2 for my loader, one for my gun and two spares. Make sure you get a charger designed to charge those batteries, I spent 40 on a charger and it didn't work.

The charger must be designed to charge 9.6v's and pay attention to the mAh ratting on the batteries and charger, those must also be the same.

You can get batteries with a much higher mAh then the Java's but they are considerably more expensive.

where do you get those chargers. most of the chargers require a spyder as the battery holder.

Not really sure. I got mine at a field I randomly visited.

Maybe Compulsivepaintball or Actionvillage?

Most times? I am not sure how you could loose out on either, ever.

No time spent to get normal batteries repeatedly. (driving, walking, paying...)
No money wasted on getting lots of normal 9v's.

Rechargeable's pay for themselves after 3 uses.
If you add the cost of a decent charger, after 7 uses.

Cant lose. Just get the Java ones. They arnt the best, but they get the job done at a reasonable cost.

One thing you might want to note, if you do get them (any type of rechargeable), make sure they are depleted fully before you try to recharge them, as adding charge to a battery with some left is what causes them to eventually go bad, and not able to be charged at all.

Cheers

This is really generally only true with NiCad batteries. NiMh and Lithium really don't suffer from memory effect, but keep in mind, rechargables *do* have a finite life span. After a while they do just hold less and less; eventually they'll need to be replaced.
