Increased kick on G3?

Hey Guys,

I've been shooting my G3 for a few months now. I never noticed any real kick when I would be shooting. More recently I have been noticing increased kick when firing multiple shots.

I'm not sure if its because I'm paying more attention, or if I need to do something to my marker. It's chronoed at 280 and the o-rings are lubed.

Thanks

~Fernando

That seems unlikely. Have you checked your paint to barrel match and made sure the velocity is not climbing as it sits?

If you continue to have problems feel free to call DP and speak to a tech.

If you changed your dwell setting to a lower one, then you will get more kick because of the higher operating pressure.

What lube are you using? My buddy and I both had G3s, I lubed mine with a mix of Dow33/gun oil and he used hater sauce/lurker lube and there was a noticeable difference in noise/kick. The one lubed with lurker/hater seemed to have much more kick and noise than the one lubed with the dow/oil mix.

I know kick is a realitive thing but it almost feels like I get more kick when I am using the higher dwell settings. I am sure there is probably not much of a difference.

did you chrono it after noticing the kick? to make sure for some strange reason your gun started shooting harder.

Yes I did chrono it and the FPS did go up. It is just I cannot tell a big difference in running the HPR at 150 dwell 12 then I can running the dwell at 14 or 16 with a slightly lower psi on the reg.

G3 tuning guide:

1. Use a good lube.

2. Make sure your o-rings are not overly snug fits - parts should move if you tap the assembly. Replace overtight o-rings. Most fits are OK from the factory, but can be improved.

3. Starting from a low dwell, increase the dwell (while at a reasonable pressure) until your velocity stops rising (the gun will also become VERY loud at this point). Then back off a point.

4. Dial HPR to desired FPS.

For better airflow, I'd bevel down any hard edges on the gun to slants, and try to increase the chamber volume, as in this picture:

That should help...someone sticky this

I lubed my G3 with dow33. I started noticing increased kick when I started using the PMD for the G3. No, I didn't chrono it again after I started noticing the kick. I'll do that next time I'm at the field.

Thanks all,

Fernando

Constructive... Especially when you're shooting those "real gun"s at 13 rounds/second.

I've noticed quite a bit of perceived kick as compared to my matrix or even my girl's vice.

I've had a problem where my reg will spike in the 400's, sometimes, then it will give me a perfect day with no spikes. The regulator seat appears to be in perfect working order. Swapping out the reg doesn't seem to help since my broken in Hyper2 (gives me +/- 3 on my DM6) has spikes in the 350+. This would lead me to believe that it's an o-ring problem so I swapped all of them with new ones from the box. Still has its days. I'm using Lurker lube and am going to try Slick Honey.

I wrote DP a few days ago on their support form but no luck. I'll have to find some time when I'm not working to give them a call.

I never said the kick was unbearable. I love my G3. I just said relative to what it was doing when I got it, it felt like it had increased kick.

I haven't updated the status only because I plan on taking everyone's suggestions and putting them to use when I hit the field later today.

Ben (from DP), I'll call if I still have problems after this weekend. Thanks for being concerned!
