isn't it only a MAJOR penalty, or the 4th consecutive penalty resulting in 4 players in the penalty box? The 4th penalty is not served, time stops, other team gets the point( non offending team) next point resumes with 3 players still in the box. that is my understanding of the rules of both psp and axbl/cxbl

This has nothing to do with Time....
Why is 2 - 2 with 60 seconds left more important, or more desperate then 4-4 with 5 minutes left?
Even if it isn't a swing point... Simply "When a penalty is assessed while the team has 4 (6, 8) points the team that is given the penalty is unable to score a point"
Get a Major = You can't score. Just like a delayed penalty in Hockey.

Um less then 90 seconds if a major is called the opposite team gets the point. Who cares if the other team can still score...the non-penalized team scored a point without hanging the flag.
I see no point to your argument at all. Basically it sounds like you want that if a team gets a penalty within the last 90 seconds of the game they lose the game...period.
Even if the team is up say 4-2 if they get a major within the last 90 seconds the other team can score for that last 90 seconds but the penalized team can't?
If thats what you're suggesting thats ridiculous it works well the way it is. The other team gets the swing point, someone is out of the game so the penalized team loses a point and loses a team member for the last bit of game time.
Example team is up 4-2 and gets a major with 90 seconds left. Its now 4-3 and the team that was up two points now is up one and is playing short handed 5 to 4 players.
You don't think thats severe enough?

Are you reading what I am typing..
"THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TIME"
Say its 4-4 in D3..with 10 minutes left 2 different people do 2 different run throughs that should be 2 majors. In the chaos of 2 majors they eliminate the entire other team.. By the time its all said and done... 5 guys 2 majors == 4 people walk off the field.. The cheating team still wins...
Basically you can get a penalty at the end of a game and never have to serve it, and that isnt right..

isnt a major they pull the penality guy out and 2 others? so a 2 for 1 and then a guy in the box. minor is pull the penality guy and one more. so pretty much a 1 for 1 and a guy in the box.
so if one major occurs. thats 3 guys. if two occur then that eliminates 6. so all players on the feild will be out.
correct me if im wrong.

In 5 man, you are correct.
The person hit is eliminated, as well as 1 additional who then goes to the box.

In X ball a penalty involves the offender and one other player to serve the time in the box.
A minor removes the offender plus another player for 1 minute
A major removes the offender plus another player for 3 minutes
A gross removes the offender plus another player for 5 minutes

The logic is pretty simple.
A major penalty is 3 minutes. If there is only 90 seconds on the clock, there is an increasingly smaller penalty for cheating, since instead of spending 3 minutes in the box, the player will spend 90 seconds or less in the box. To make sure the penalty 'holds its value' at lower game time values, in addition to being placed in the box, the opposing team also scores a point, under the assumption that if the opposing team had had the additional 90 seconds of major penalty to work with, they probably would have scored a point on it.
In the above case, the thing that forces the end of the game is game time. What (the less attractive) Chris is pointing out is that if a team has four points, gets a major, and still hangs the flag, the same thing happens: The match ends before the penalty is served.
Prohibiting a team from scoring a game-ending point when a major penalty is assessed insures that there actually IS a penalty, as getting a major and then winning the match isn't much of a penalty.

cough hockey can end on a penalty -.-
All you do is don't let them touch it and no whistle is blown therefor having time run out. Trust me I know this.

you mean that if a team wins a point by say shooting people out with a hot gun or something of that nature the point should be voided, and the clock should be reset? or am I lost...

You can't *win* on a penalty...
It cant be 2-2 me have a penalty and score in hockey.... If you are already up by 3 and there is a penalty then you can let time run out... But you are unable to change the game on a penalty.
If I cant touch the puck, its kinda hard to score.

The severity of the penalty is not my decision, just that SOMETHING needs to be done.
I would say at MINIMUM if a team has 4 points and gets a major there should be the following options:
1. The opposing team continues to play, and wins the point
2. The penalized team wins the point and it is voided.
3. The opposing team gives up the point, and the point is voided

Well, if you want to get technical, you can *win* on a penalty. If my team gets a delayed penalty the opposing team can put it in their own net.
Just yankin' your chain, brah. (no homo?) haha.
