He probably means the full xball matches with 25 min halves that have turned into the shortened version that we now play.

The axbl and Cxbl still run full xball matches, but the psp has changed to fit in more games and keep the costs down for teams.

Everything switched to Xball Light so that more teams could be accommodated. Basically shorter Xball matches equal more games to be played and thus more teams can enter a tournament. There are a few true Xball leagues now.
