Hey guys I have a black/pewter epiphany and I was wondering what the trigger frame would look like if the finish was removed? Has anyone sanded or polished the finish off of their epi and what does it look like?
polishing will not create the temperatures needed for magnesium to combust. i machine magnesium at work a lot and we have it to an art where the chips burst into flames and torn to dust in mid air. it make for really easy cleanup.
cool thanks for th reply, what do you guys think i could do to make it all just chrome looking? I don't think that just some polishing compound and a buffing wheel will do the trick. I would just lik eit to be all shiny chrome.
I have 3 of the epiph bodies laying around so I decoded to try this. At first I tried to use the oven cleaner idea to strip the anno, but that was taking too long and pretty ineffective. So I decided on trying to sand the anno, once again it took quite some time to even get anywhere. So far my best bet has just been to use a polishing heel and buffing/polishing compound. I'm not using an automotive polish because they would only be for the finished product. So I'm using a buffing compound similar to that of Jewelers Tripoli. The process is slow going especially in the recesses made for the rubber inserts.
