Stock Minion Question
Just got a 07 minion, brand new. Put a hopper of paint through it (dont have a chrono so not sure what its shooting at) but the balls weren't shooting too straight, they weren't the best balls around, some shot straight some curved like there was no tomorrow. Just curious with a stock Minion if there was anything I should do to make it perform better, or if it was just the paint. Got a tournament sunday, and want to have it performing well so I can do my job :-p.
Any info would do wonders. Thanks in advance.

Its hard to say without knowing what your settings are. If its directly out of the box it shouldnt be shooting like that. Im going to lean twoards the balls being ****ty mixed with maybe the regulator being set a tiny bit too high. Also if it really is brand new you will see better performance over time as its breaking in.

Yeah thats what I figured it was. Everything in it is at the default settings I could get the book and read them off if it helps at all.
I'll just dry fire a tank through it and break in the reg and then adjust the velocity when the time comes. Thanks.
Anything more/else would be great. The what ifs if something goes wrong are always out there lol.

I mean if your gun is stock the manual can pretty much explain everything. Same with the stickies in the dye forum. Id advise going into the dye forum and looking up the stickies about leaks and problems like that. Study which o-rings cause whichs leaks so in that situation you know what to do.
You shouldnt have any major problems with a brand new gun other then possible o-rings not seating correctly every once and a while. When you get comfortable with the gun the first thing i always suggest is to take out the bolt and whipe off all the lube they put on and re-lube it yourself. Theres a good chance the gun was just sitting in the factory with that old lube in the gun. If you ever have any major problems feel free to PM me, i was certified working on dye guns so i should be able to solve any problems your going to have.

Umm...why hasn't anyone suggested a new barrel? That would be the most obvious solution.

The stock barrel is not bad, and that would not be causing the balls to curve. It is a velocity problem/bad paint and rmfu covered what needs to be done.

Another thing you might want to do if it's brand new out of the box is crack it open, wipe all the old lube off, and relube it. It's been sitting on the shelf a while.

I own a Minion and have never had issues with the barrel shooting straight with quality paint.
If you are shooting chit paint it will fly like chit.
Only issues I have had is 1) its a gas hog and 2) keeping it lubed when its really hot out and you are firing a lot of paint. I play in back and lock down the lanes so 4-5 pods a round is the norm for me. I found out the hard way about not keeping the bolt well-lubed.
So buy some good paint and keep her lubed up........

What kind of lube are you using that you have to lube it more then once a day?? Ive played tournaments in 100 degree weather without lubing my gun all day.

If some paint is going straight and others are curving theres a 99% chance your paint is inconsistent shape. The minion barrel is pretty good but crap paint will shoot like crap in any gun. Try better paint.

it might not be the stock settings though because i have had my minion for over a year and i have never touched the settings other than when i put it in psp mode. odds are its your paint. and i dont know how you guys lube your bolt so much. i havent touched mine since the practice before chicago and its still fine and i play in 80-90 degree weather every weekend.

You CAN do that, but eventually your going to be wishing you did lube it more often when your blowing o-rings in the middle of a game.

This should fix it..... Run more paint through it, all it needs is to be broken it. It takes around 2500 shots for the minions stock reg to be broken in. If you want get a new barrel that could help some but imo the stock one is just fine. Just break your reg in because your velocity is probably spikeing which is causing your balls to curve. Your welcome
