I'm glad this forum actually happened. It's a step in the right direction to help players, refs, and spectators alike to understand how the rules are enforced.

Let's see. What experience is worth mentioning. I reffed scrims at SCP for a year, and for tournaments I have reffed 13 events spread across XPSL, NPPL, and OSC.

Questions? Ask away.

I do not have the years that Boogie has but I have been around awhile. Started with Young Guns at cup 03' when Rosie was running the works. After Tim S. took over I aquired my certification and started from there and have been one of Tim's Ultimates whenever he needs one for the last couple years as well as doing a couple certification clinics for new reffs when Tim was'nt able to be in 2 places at once. So I have reffed a few events. I do local events around my area with a little reff squad I put together, mostly woodsball/indoor feilds.I ran PSP1 field for the first few days then floated around to most of the other fields - where ever Tim or Marcus/Jason needed me to be at the last event in Chicago 08'. Worked the MAO event and Phoenix and intend on being at Pa. and Cup....God willing. It is nice to see this type of thread although it seems strange that I find it after what I think was the best event of the last couple of years for me. I reff because I love this sport and feel that this is one of the best ways
to stay close to it. I am grateful for the privledge to make a difference in the PSP league and look forward to many more years of service - again God willing.
My name is David Baker/Predator and I am proud to say that I am a PSP Ultimate Reff or just a PSP Reff, I do both with the same intensity and conviction. We have 2 more events left this year and if they are anything like the Chicago Open they are going to be a real hoot! All the best to all the Teams who compete in this league. See you on the fields!

Arrow no certs, no problem.......

as i mentioned, certs are not required to post here. there is no shame if you don't have them.

i have a bit of reffing experience even world cup when rosie was around but have no certs. most of my experience were at a multitude of fields with rec and large 2000 player mega events in the late 80's and early 90's when certs were unheard of. speedball was played using tires and whatever we could come up with as bunkers.

certs seem to be the 'status' now but we're all in this position for the same reason. reffing views the game in a whole different perspective we cannot see when involved playing the game. i think i've learned more about the game watching others making mistakes while reffing than making them myself during play. most times being shot 10 times as much than when i played the game.

not attempting to turn this thread into a debate by posting this. i'd just like to make it clear that anyone should feel comfortable posting their position and field here no matter what neck of paintball reffing they are a part of. thanks....

I guess I qualify, but no certifications.

I managed and served as a head ref at a field for years while I was in college.

I also have reffed a dozen or so national events including making the final call at World Cup one year to decide who won the Pro division.

PSP Cert as of March 08, PSP Chi-Town 08, and hopefully will be in stripes for Cup 08

Will, at some point, be working on getting NPPL cert too so I can get my hands on one of those rule books.

three years reffing in south america born in NY raised in TX now residing in Santiago, Chile

no regular field reffing, member of ASAP (agrupacion de Seguridad y Arbitros de Paintball) paintball ref and security group in English.

Events Reffed

CSP Chile Event (it's the southamerican league under psp format)
LAPPL Chile EVENT (southmaerican league under nppl format)
cnp speedball-campeonato nacional de paintball (national championship psp format)
cnp bosque- Woodsball national championship
czp- copa zonapaintball (national 7 men championship)
copa de la amistad (frienship cup xball format)
Copa Teleton- Charity like jerry lewis marathon where on a yearly basis we play this cup and raise funds for disabled children

Total events reffed like 20 events probably more but can't remember exactly.

Asap is a group that was created that holds only refs we are close to 15 refs that ref not for a living but none of us play championships we are all former players that noticed that reffing is awesome and that very little people like to do it. So we created the group.

We don't have any certifications due to that there aren't any clinics in south america specially in Chile to get this certification no matter what kind psp or nppl or anything no certified refs here although several of us are willing to get certified in US although is it kind of expensive to fly overthere, I was planning to attend the nppl houston event since i have relatives there great family trip and get to live watch great paintballing although hurricane ike backstabbed my flight plans so won't be able to go to any event probably within a year or two.

So if anybody wants to come and certify some southamerican refs you're gladly welcomed although we don't have the bucks to bring somebody here xD

great thread hadn't seen it before.

If anybody knows spanish feel welcomed to visit our website has great info regarding reffing and important information such as the importance of hydrotests how to read tanks security info and a whole bunch of other things.
