BCPPL announces new X-Division

BCPPL presents “The BC X-Division”

July 12/13 2008

The BCPPL is pleased top announce the formation of a new element to our Provincial series, the BC X-Division.

This new division is based on the current worldwide accepted X-ball format adapted by the NXL, PSP, Millenium series, and the MR series. We will also have all of the elements of a professional X-ball event, electronic scoreboard, full team pits, and a 2008 full NXL/PSP field. Layouts will be based on upcoming PSP events, giving any players/teams (playing PSP) a chance to practice the field in a competitive tournament environment.

The new off-shoot series of the BCPPL is the most affordable form of X-ball ever offered. The old X-Ball format used in past years was simply not financially sustainable without huge sponsorships. This new format is just as (or more) exciting and much cheaper for players. Of course you will also see the same quality event players have come to expect from BCPPL/CPPL tournaments!

This new division will be capped at 8 teams , and will offer huge cash prizes at every event! Because of the expressions of intrest from many teams, we anticipate that we will hit the cap within a couple of days of opening registration.

Teams playing the regular BCPPL series will be offered first right of refusal for all eight team spots available.

There will be 1 event in 2008, and 3 events in 2009. Teams playing the upcoming July event will be given first right to a spot for the whole 2009 series.....provided they participate in regular BCPPL events.

For complete rule book for the BC X-division go HERE

Location

We are happy to announce that Event 1 will be played at Panther Paintball in Surrey BC. Panther offers a completely flat sport turfed playing surface (used at BCPPL E2 this year) that is second to none.

Panther Paintball is located at 16th ave Surrey BC MAP TO FIELD

The Game

- Games will be won when the first team reaches a score of 7 points
- Or when 15 minutes of actual game play has expired. Team with the most points is the winner
- If teams are tied at this point, a sudden death overtime of one point will be played. The winner of this point will be declared the winner of the match
- The game clock will stop each and every point.
- Teams will switch sides every 4th point.
- There will be a 2 minute break between each point, for players to reload, and air up.
- 5 Players on the field at once
- 10 Players MAX per Match
- Teams may roster a MAX of 10 players per event.
- No timed penalties – (1for1 - 2for1 - 3for1 will be used)

In addition the team will play short for the next points. (1 point 1for1, 2points 2for1, and 3 points 3for1)

Players that miss the online deadline, must stand in line and get there card before the tournament starts. Cost for waiting until the last minute is $40.

Registration fees are 750.00 per team.

2nd place: $2000.00
3rd place: $1000.00

Paint

As usual, we will have many brands of paintballs to choose from. Paintballs will be priced at $60,$70, and $80 per case.

The anticipated average for each team for a whole weekend of X-ball will be 15-25 cases per team.

Live webcast

As with all BCPPL events, we are pleased and to offer a free live video webcast of our first XBall event. Your friends and family will be able to follow you and the entire tournament from anywhere in the world.

Host Hotel

The official host hotel for 2008 BCPPL events is the Sandman Hotel chain. The Sandman in Langley is offering the best rates around for player's attending E1. This hotel is located off Hwy #1 at the 200th street exit. As with the tournament location, there is tons of restaurants, and other services within walking distance. The hotel itself is 15-20 minutes from the Panther.

This hotel group has been a proud supporter of BC paintball the past few years. We strongly encourage all teams to support them.

It sounds cool but the estimate on the cost is off. Most teams shoot 10-15 cases per match. Considering an 8 team league, 7 matches at the listed prices would push it out of reach for most players.

Drawing a comparison to the CXBL or perhaps any other good sized league, where you are allowed to bring your own paint, I dont see how this could be considered the the affordable form of xball ever offered.

Actually the cost is dead on......this format has been run (MR X-Division) for a full season and a half already. The games are a race to seven, 15 min match. I believe the most any team has shot (both days) in any event using this format is 30 (total) cases....... What is even better is the players actually get to play way more paintball every weekend there is an event.

So less money, more games, more actual paintball......and three teams minimum will share $6000.00 per event to help pay the bills.........and virtually every team will actually have a chance to win!

If you have any questions or don't understand something please read the rule book/website, or email us at info@bcppl.com

Thanks

Team Ballistic and Team Epic have been playing in the MRx Div since last year. The most amount of paint that either team has shot is 42 cases and that took us to 2nd place out of 10 teams. In the MR x div in Calgary the paint cost is $80.00 a case unlike BCPPL which you can shot $60.00 if you want. You get to play on an average of 7 points per game (race to 7 points or 15 minutes stop time) at 4 matches that would be say 28 points / games how ever you look at it. Plus any finals which would be an additional 14 points.

In a 5 or 7 man event a team would play 8 prelims points / games plus another 4 -6 points / games for the finals. That would be a total of 14 points / games and I read somewhere in the BCPPL thread that a team shot 40 cases of paint at the last BCPPL. Playing the MR X div lets you play twice as many games for about the same cost per team.

Thanks for the info Raymond.

We know teams will shoot even less here for the first couple of events. The will need to familiarize themselves with the format and such. Also having the cap on teams will help......Most teams will be shocked at how much paintball they actually play.....

No team has EVER shot 40 cases at any BCPPL event ever........the most this year was about 30-31.....some Div1 teams have shot 20-23 and won the event.... made a profit playing paintball!

With 15 mins or a race to 7 - paint consumption is chopped down big time compared to CXBL.

I'm really looking forward to this new series from our great local league. Having read a bit on the format I gotta say it is real attractive compared to gunning for almost a hour - lots of pressure to do it right and be the first to 7.

Lovin' it. Can't wait to machine gun down some fools again - it's giving me a reason to pick up a gun again this season.

Yeah it was...
Summer = people away, people without money.

Not enough commitment is the reason for the cancellation I'm pretty sure.
