Velocity Bull**** (shens Fps Claims)
ok heres my rant inspired by fargbollen but definitly not started or only done by him. i love 99% of the bull**** about ridicolous fps claims and velocity readings.
i love how people cliam +/- 1 fps when most chornos are +-5 error (like the big blue guys and the red ones are a bit better and the handhelds suck).
personally i have never seen a gun consistently shoot +/-5 or less in more than 5 shots and i have been playing over 8 years or so (hell when i started the led just came out and it kicked major ***) and shot alot of peoples guns (chronoed them) and watched alot of people chrono (like more than your typical user because i shot cockers for a good time period so when i was unscrewing the cocking rod and adjusting the spring tension people were chronoing.
another favorite is people who have a chrono and dont have the balls to show their gun shooting over the chrono. the biggest jerkoff here i would say is that guy mike or somebody who does all those youtube videos on how to sell a gun where he saves the pe macroline with the inspected by sticker for when he sells them. and he is like yep shooting over 300. but the next shot is prolly 250, then 310 ect.
i hear alot of bull**** fps claims but why hasnt anyone ever recorded their sick velocity readings like they do for bps?

Horrible rant and i highly disagree. Soem guns are very consistant. My droid has easily gotten +/- 5 or less over both the red chronos and the x radar handhelds.

i had an etek get the same reading of like 304 over a big blue chrono like 4 times in a row (i thought it was broken), but they are way off and it turns out it was broken they couldnt clear it after.

i think hes saying its impossible to truly test a gun's consistency with a chrono, because they are inaccurate.

i agree 100%.
also still with inaccurate chronos very few guns get the bull**** claims people say. and with whitebox or other **** paint even egos and guns with 2 liters will get a nice +-10 on a good day.
and i trust that all of you are right, but until you verifiy your shens its all bs.

I wouldn't say that there are many inaccurate chronographs compared to the number of people who don't know how to properly chronograph, and especially so for consistency.
That is keeping the marker level and on the same spot on the chrono, not picking up the marker and fumbling and crap.

Truth but there are some excellent chronos with like accuracy within about 1-2 fps

the most consistent gun i've seen was an invert mini, straight out of the box, shooting +/-2

what if a marker was shooting ball on ball consistency at a chrono, and the chrono wasn't changing (except with other guns)
would that mean the gun still has perfect consistency? even if the chrono was off, it wouldn't be likely it'd read the same result every time

I've seen +- over the course of 5-7 shots, but I guarantee it's not consistent for an entire hopper.
When people make those claims it's with a short string.
I had a DM6 that shot 295 295 295 at Socal 06... Fresh Inertia with a .693 CP, Guerrilla Ambush Reg + Broken-in Reg/Bolt kits... It stayed within the 290's the entire tournament until we switched to Formula 13..
It has a lot to do with regs, tanks, barrels and paint. Almost everything comes into play.

Back in the day, on more than one occasion, I've shot my VM-68 using regulated Co2 over the Chrono and had results like this: 295,295,295,297,295. I thought the chrono was broken until more people came up and shot over it, getting results like this: 275, 286,290,260, 305, etc.
Then I'd put my Vm back over it and I'd get 295,295,296,295, over and over again. I suspect that the reason for this is that I took immacculate care over the cleaning and lubing of the gun, and used only the highest grade paint available at the time - Marbalizer. That and I used a J&J brass barrel that happened to match the bigger paintballs back in the 90's. Brass has a much lower drag coefficient than the aluminum that is commonly used in barrels today, resulting in better consistency and less spin on the balls.
So in short, I don't know how accurate chronographs are, but there is DEFINITELY a difference from one person's gun to another in terms of consistency. I'd say that if one gun is getting numbers like I got with my Vm, and other guns are not - that gun is pretty damn consistant, whether the chrono was telling the truth or not.
My MQ'2 cocker has gotten similar numbers over the chrono as well - bet never quite as perfect as my VM, for some odd reason.
