Youll have to forgive me on not being up to par on the NPPL rule book. I should have said i was refering to NXL rules on the unobvious hit.If the NPPL allows you to play with a unobvious hit with no penelty that is there gig but it is a invitation to disaster.

It is also the referee's discretion - If the ref sees someone get hit, and they flinch in or make some motion that indicates they felt the hit, that unobvious becomes an obvious. This sort of "covers" situations that could be a "disaster".

posted this earlier for that clarification:
Ok first lets say this is an Xball match which puts us all on the same page.
Yes each league will have different idea on this topic because of rule structure.

Matter of fact I was looking to download the newest full book of rules for PSP but could not locate it. anyone have a link to actual rules and not the updates that are on PSP site?

The intial question was broached without that understanding. That question stated that every time you wipe a player off it is a penalty for the other team. That is not bound by game type.

Plus, I've never seen a one for one pulled in an XBall Match, which was used as an example after that post. 5 man yes, XBall no.

Seriously, this discussion is null and void if we are going to go into rule technicalities. The initial question was simple, do you always pull the penalty.

My answer is no. It is a judgement call by the referee. Most of the time, yes.

Well lets see ive pulled that penelty about a good 2 dozen times and everytime time i had no problem with the players involved. Also if you saw a 1-1 in a xball match you evidently were not watching x-ball.Also Danbob i have the feeling that you are a player and players have a different view of when and where a penelty is called. This is not a slight to you but just a observation.

I play, but I also do quite a bit of reffing and am P.R.O certified. I'll be reffing Buffalo as well. My certification was last summer, but a knee injury kept me out all last year.

My playing helps me ref better. As a player I now know a lot of the tricks other players use to avoid the call and I understand how the game runs. My opinion in this manner is irregardless of my feeling as a player - this call could go for or against me in any game, so I don't see how that has an affect what-so-ever on my view.

Players only have a different view when they are on the short end of the stick for a penalty, imo.

Knee is good now, I've been through physical therapy for it and what not, back to about 100%.

The only problem with rules is that...they are never all-encompassing. You have to be able to interpret the situation, something I see a lot of individuals who are new to reffing have trouble with. I'm not saying I have a plethora of experience - but that is the biggest issue I see with reffing in paintball.

For example, In the Celtics-Cavs game 6, a referee made a late game call for a charge by Paul Pierce on Lebron James. It was said to be a 50/50 call. Did Lebron have his feet set? Didn't look like it to me, but the call was made.
