I am shocked that in MA I can have both a detector and a jammer.

radar jammers are illegal in all 50 states but laser jammers are covered on that chart.

The reason why radar jammers are illegal is they're active jammers like we used in Iraq, they send a signal out. while laser jammers are passive and do not send a signal out.

It's the same idea behind using a radio tower w/out the FCC's OK, is why radar jammers are illegal.

I have a Bel RX 65, I chose it instead of the V1 because of it being about $230 on ebay at the time I bought it. It has definitely paid for itself 5 times over in avoided tickets, and those moments that say, "ok, there is a cop around, don't be a *******"

For someone looking to buy one now. I'd buy the one deceit has above. The passport.

how do people conceal the V1?

do just mount the unit near the mirror, and then get that accessory thing on their site?

or is there an even more stealth way?

I don't conceal mine. I just have it mounted to the left of my rear view mirror. It's not illegal to have radar detectors where I live so I have no need to hide it

I was more looking for that steal look, than out of need.

I know there are remotes mounts for the antennae, but I don't know the details. Check radar busters/radardetector.net for info.

^^ put it back on the default settings. I use mine on highway mode with nothing turned off. Yes it gets annoying hitting the mute button through the city, but it has better range. If anyone has escort/passport questions, PM me. My dad works for them and I've learned just about everything you can for optimum operation. I've used just about every detector produced by the company since they started. I may be testing a new console unit soon...

Currently have: Passport SRX, and im working on being able to test their newest (not produced yet) version of the 9500ci

whistler is a decent brand for the price. never heard anything about that particular model tho. search around for some reviews.

and a quick question here. since escort owns beltronics, and the STI driver is immune to all RDD's. why didn't escort incorporate that technology into the 9500i? the STI was out before the 9500.

depends on the car its going in... certain cars have spots where you can hide the V1 inside of

e.g: the e36 has the third brake like housing where you can stuff the V1 and then have the remote placed by your speedometer or wherever you want it.

but yeah most people hardwire it and mount it above/next to their mirror where it's hard to see from outside, and then get the remote and put it wherever. i have mine mounted near my rear-view and hardwired to my sunroof motor but i don't have the remote.

yeah, I am probably going to do that.

I thought there was a kit or something that would allow you to mount the sensors where they could best see, then just hide the processing bits, but I guess you can't.

I will probably just put it by my mirror. Does it stick on with suction cups? How well do they work? My garmin gps has a suction cup, but the damn thing keeps falling off. I may get a remote display mounted in by my radio.

it comes with a suction and a visor mount.

the suctions work great, i've never had it fall off on me.
