No smaller paint in a larger bore needs more psi to reach a given FPS

Yep, and therefore, more PSI = more kick.

Lesson: always use good paint, always bore match properly.

so if someone one was shooting a small size paint (reballs) in a small bore they could use less pressure and have less kick and say the gun had kick which would be very different from someone who didnt measure and gave something a bad review. I never knew paint affected kick.

This probably doesn't interest most people, but I took pictures of bolt
measurements. I have already sent them to a couple places to see about
getting a bolt made that does not have the venturi tip.

Hopefully I can find time to get this modeled in ProE sometime soon. One fully
dimensioned drawing is a lot nicer than 17 with one dimension each

who have you sent it to? Did you contact techt? I think they would do a great job, but that is just me.

i have found that too small of a bore for your barrel compared to the paint size can also increase kick. I think this is due to more friction and more back pressure (or something like that).

So in some cases....even though you have a really high pressure but the bore is way greater or just greater, then there could still be no kick because the air just escapes around the ball and it would be just like dry firing. and during dry firing at high pressure, there is still no kick.

if anyone has ever noticed, there is greater kick when actually shooting paint through a gun versus dry firing.

and so like xluben said proper bore match is needed to balance the back pressure to reduce kick to a minimal and keep efficiency.

I don't think TechT would make a part for a DP gun.

There is really VERY little I want to see changed in the bolt, so I think just
about any shop could do it. I just want an exact replica without the venturi.
This will reduce airflow restriction as well as make the bolt even lighter.

Why do you think that? Because DP is a small company.

That makes sense.
So are you looking at any larger companies, or are you looking at more of a local shop?

I have currently contacted Alamo City Paintball and Acid Customs. They are
both smaller shops, but specialize in paintball and have a good reputation.
ACP works mostly with Delrin, so I'd especially like to see them make
something. They also have VERY reasonable prices on all parts they offer.

I have contacted both of them about making a bolt for me, but if they would
be free to continue selling it to other G3 owners if they'd like. I would think
this may be something ACP would be interested in, but I think he has
reservations not being able to actually have a gun on hand to test.

I would love to see something DW-esque put on the G3. I don't think it would be terribly difficult, the same dimensions for everything that seals, except get rid of the venturi design and add a stalk down the middle extending from the backcap to prevent ball rollback.

I wonder what it would do to the sound signature and efficiency.

ACP was my idea.

But seriously thanks for contacting them. Also, ask them about ertalyte TX and see if they can make parts using that. Its what the NOX kilo bolt and Lurker's eigenbolt are made of.

Great work

I believe the stalk may violate Nicad's DW bolt patent. A non-venturi bolt
should not be a problem though.

FYI, the G3 bolt tip sticks out in to the breech a TINY bit. According to DP
this was done to help stop rollback, and having the next ball in the stack be
hit by the bolt. So far it has not adversely affected paint feeding at all.

They've always been on my radar as a go-to for custom work. I was looking
at Ertalyte TX when I was working on a Threshold bolt. It seems to have
very good properties for this application. I believe Delrin will be cheaper (and
easier for ACP to source).

I didnt think that delrin did well in spoolers. Something about the tolerances and the material swelling maybe, I am not quite sure.

DW or ACP would be absolutely sick.

xluben, I will give you whatever support you need to get this bolt made. I almost had a guy on here by the name of Sushifish mill me a custom quest bolt. Never went through with it. Maybe I'll make a thread asking about ertalyte tx in the voided warranty or the custom guns section.

Let's get this made!

ck8l4 helped look for balloons
if you have a lathe (with miling) you could prbably hollow out the bolt and therefore make it a littler lighter and more efficent. THis was done with the stock Ion bolt/

Yea if Nicad made a bolt for the G3, I'd order one just to get it. Of course, I'm buying one anyways once I get my LCE-Mag sold lol.
