I was AMAZED to find that the F8 frame is actually a tiny bit smaller than the G3!
But you do have to realize that many of the differences are on the range of
0.05" (aka 5 hundreths of an inch aka 1/20 of an inch). This is smaller than
the smallest marking on a ruler (1/16"), so is very hard to notice.
I think there are two reasons the new frame "feels" smaller:
1. The trigger is much closer to the frame. Hand feels less "stretched" to reach it.
2. The thin part of the new grips are almost 2/10" thinner than the old grips.
This is noticeable and it is basically the only point in which your hand is really
grasping the frame.
The rest of the grip is more contoured to the hand. Making it wider at the
bottom (in both directions) really fits the hand well. The DS grips are even
thinner than the thinnest area of the stock ones, but I am still not sure which
I like the "feel" of more.
The stock grips on the G3 are VERY nice, and completely change how the gun
feels. If DP offered these for their older guns I think they would be a "must
